It’s because Premier League clubs had to submit their accounts prior to 31/12/23. There is little room for overspending in January now for most teams. I was trying to calculate Bournemouth’s situation, they have splashed millions in the last few years. Teams like plucky have little to no head room left. This window might turn into a big opportunity to get ahead of our competitors with a few more high value deals.
