Indeed. If negotiations are not yet done then it stops him walking away on a free and rival clubs having us out of the equation. Why does it mean he won't sign an improved contract being offered?
Triggering the option is merely a formality to allow us time to either a) negotiate a longer-term contract b) sell him

Don't see JPVH as Colwill replacement, we need 4x centre backs for the coming season, JPVH give us 3. Not saying Colwill is still on the cards, just that I sincerely hope we still have another CB incoming.Being reported today that JPVH is signing a new contract until 2025. If true, then RDZ clearly sees real potential in him. Have we gone overboard with Colwill and been too dismissive of JPVH?
