Remove the mass internet bullying thread from Gold? Not a hard decision to make, whatever the circumstances.

RIP Jamie.

I got real curious now and started to read about the thread on other forums where it was discussed. Sounds very much like a 2010 thread; social media was new, people didnt know how to hide their personal details, people in general had not experienced "cyber bullying" in the way we sort of understand it now and therefore were more prone to participate in that kind of behaviour. I dont think people should beat themselves up to hard over it - it was a pretty new world and that makes it easy to get lost every now and then.

Bullying is bullying, whatever format it takes and whatever the justification is. Not to put the thread on trial, or any of the people involved, but it never deserved a place in Gold alongside threads of pure brilliance - which didn't victimise anyone in the name of entertainment. It's easy to get swept up and carried away, but it will always be a stain on this forum in my opinion. Not that I give it much thought, to be perfectly honest.

Special mention to pornomagboy for missing out on one of the great Withdean comebacks. (remains my favourite thread to read).

Just have a look in gold. It's part of NSC folklore, but incredibly sad that he's died so young.

So easy to jump on the bully bus when someone is being a complete nobber. I've done it, and hold my hand up. Fish turn on the one that's swimming funny. It has survival value for the gene pool. Even so....

It would be nice if NSC could collectively send something to the family

four months on, because someone happened to look him up?

doesnt seem right to remove a part of history because someone has passed either.

Maybe send some pizza?

I have you on ignore. I thought I'd read your post on this thread since, despite confessing mental health issues on another thread, you can be complete cock and I smelled gammon grizzling. I see you haven't learned any lessons. And....back on ignore.

Gutted, don't know how I'll recover from this.

The thread you mention has successive people abusing the poster in question. As does the Desert Orchid thread.

Those could just as easily be considered bullying.

Yes, that is another good example of internet bullying.

I'm not trying to position myself above this sort of thing - I'm fairly sure I was involved in some stirring about Michel Kuipers' testimonial ( :lolol: ), and I'm not one for going back on old threads and old posts to quote them out of context with hindsight. The point I'm wanting to make is that knowing what I know now, I don't think there's any cause to celebrate any thread which is about humiliating someone for common joy. Especially when it involves real world consequences, as it did in Jamie's case. Again, I'm not preaching although I understand, inevitably, someone will say I am.

Rather than airbrushing NSC history of which the Jamie thread is a part, I'd respectfully suggest placing this thread alongside it wherever it ends up..

It might end up being both a learning experience and a cautionary tale for NSC members new and old.

Jamie has often been celebrated on NSC as an example of an idiot.
He was basically bullied in that thread.
And yet now people are talking of sending something to his family?
Do me a favour. I mean, What would the note say? “hi. We are some anonymous football fans who ten years ago were quite nasty to your son. Have some flowers”.
Of course it’s sad a young man has died but the piousness and earnestness of some on here is a bit much, especially given that Jamie has been in the stocks in the gold section for yonks.

You’ve not arrived until you’re on Harry’s ignore list! It’s NSCs equivalent of the naughty step...the irony being he’s the biggest child of all!

You are one weird individual, you say you have him on ignore then you read his post , surprise surprise his post irks you and then you say you’ve put him back on ignore, he wasn’t off it in the first place you pathological liar, NSC’s very own Walter.. I know you’ll read this, can you resist responding?
