Jamie Murphy

Was tearing teams apart not so long ago - am genuinely mystified why he is not getting a kick at the moment

I question his delivery, Skalak has been crucial recently with this, however thought he was poor today. I would have put Murphy on instead of Lua Lua, but I know nothing.

Rewatch Knockaert and Skalak's performances against Fulham and QPR and ask yourself whether you'd drop either for Murphy.

Because Skalak has been in good form? It's not rocket science.

That being said I'd start Murphy against Boro.

Knockaert is a class apart. The other three all have their own qualities. We are lucky to have them all. I'm happy for any of them to play. Not to mention Super Solly.

Knocky should never be dropped but yes I would drop Skalak who for me doesn't stretch teams enough down the left, so much of our play ended up going nowhere today when it reached him. For me his Bechkam-like skills do not deserve to be ahead of Murphy's ability to go past players and scare the life out of full backs. I know Hughton doesn't see it that way (at the moment at least) but today will focus his attention a lot on whether he is getting this decision right.

How did Murphy do?

OK, he didn't play, so we can't compare. So, I will stick with my personal view that Skalak is a better player than Murphy, OK?

Well you could have answered the question I asked but that you didn't I guess speaks volumes more

How did Skalak do today?

Brilliant set pieces again. We nearly scored on a few occasions in the first half. He didn't do much in open play, and that's where I have my doubts with him, especially when playing on the left. Can't see him playing on the right, with Knockaert and March, so he's going to have to find a way of playing as a left-sided midfielder. I suspect he'd benefit from another season in the Championship, and might find it hard to work out that position if we were to make it to the PL.

Murphy is a better play to stretch a defence, and beat a player with natural skill. Threatens, although not enough in the game.

Salak great delivery as we know but agree with London Irish - that is it does not beat his man or stretch a defence. Yes yes great goal, and has delivered crosses that have yielded goals.

I would play Murphy, as creates more in open play.

In open play Skalak is being knocked about a bit too easily. Great to have a set piece specialist on the pitch, but in a physical game, with Knocky equally capable of whizzing in a corner, I'd think of using the Murph. He gets knocked about a bit too, but he can go past a defender and cause some havoc. Kaz, I thought, today looked a little more like his old self. Will be good to have a thunderbolt from him in a time of need.
