About as funny as a homophobic c unt with bad aids.

He writes today about the man city game that so much wealth hasn't been flaunted in front of so many gays since Liberace's funeral.

And then they helpfully have a picture of Freddie Mercury too.

What a cuntstain

I don't understand why people read those freesheet papers. 'Because it's free'. Well, yes, but there's a reason why they can afford to make them free. THEY'RE SHITE. No good features, rehashed news and sport, second-rate journalists. Pay for a proper paper, it's worth the 50p.

I just got home with my copy of The London Paper and was about to post exactly the same thread. What a total cock.

The full piece:

Man City's billionaire owners kicked off their new regime at Brighton on Tuesday. So much wealth hasn't been seen in the prescence of so many gays since the funeral of Liberace.

I shall be emailing the paper to complain. He couldn't even get the day right either.

In mitigation though, the Freddie Mercury picture relates to his previous bit.

Dear Sir or Madam

I wish to complain in the strongest possible manner about James Gill's column in the London paper on Friday 26th September. As a Brighton resident, and supporter of Brighton and Hove Albion, I find his comment "so much wealth has never been seen in the prescence of so many gays since the funeral of Liberace" offensive in the extreme.

Not only is it homophobic, but he also ridicules the memory of those people who have died from such a horrible disease as aids. Yes, there is a large gay community in Brighton, and maybe Brighton have a greater percentage of gay fans, or shock horror maybe even players, I don't know, than any other club, but that is hardly a reason for his remarks. His comment is nothing short of a small minded, petty and pathetic dig at a perceived trait of people that live in Brighton. I can only assume Mr Gill thought he was being funny - I do wonder, does he do similar gags about Bradford and Muslims, Arsenal and black people or maybe Tottenham and Jewish people? No, thought not. That would be considered racist wouldn't it.

There is a massive campaign in every football ground throughout the World to "Kick racism out of football". Isn't about time to Kick homophobia out of football as well? As a Brighton fan, I am heartily sick of hearing "Does your boyfriend know you're here", "We can see you holding hands" etc etc sung at us by every set of visiting fans, but apparently it perfectly alright to allude to that in a free paper distributed throughout London. I expect to see a retraction and an apology from Mr Gill in Mondays issue.

Oh, and for the record, the game was on Wednesday, not Tuesday as reported by Mr Gill.

Yours sincerely

Dear Sir or Madam

Your columnist, James Gill's comments regarding Brighton and Hove Albion's fans were quite frankly shocking.

Is your paper usually in the habit of printing comments such as that written by Mr Gill? If we beat Derby and draw Arsenal in the 4th round will he make comments about us Brighton fans not seeing so many black faces since the film Zulu? If Bradford had beaten a London team would he have made comments about Muslims not making such a huge impact on London since July 7th 2005? Of course he wouldn't, so why is it that your paper sees fit to publish these bigotted, snidey comments?

The irony is that on the opposite page, you make a point of working out how much per Croatian fan the Croatian FA got fined for racism. Does your tolerance stretch no further then, gay-bashing is okay for you and your readers?

This casual homophobia is the kind of thing that incites idiots and morons to view people of a different sexuality as inferior and fair game for abuse.

I await your prompt response and I wonder what the Press Complaints Commission, your advertisers and indeed gay organisations and columnists would make of this.

Yours faithfully

Likewise, if I get a response then I'll publish it here

You know the answer. For two reasons he wouldn't

that he would be worried if his "jest" upset some of the papers readership.

that he does not have the bottle. To frightened as to the possible consequences of making a comment which would be seen as being racist

Much easier to take a cheap pop at what he saw as an easier target

You're right. I did already know the answer and you're also right, he hasn't got the bottle.

I was genuinely jaw-droppingly amazed that those comments got past sub-editors and editors and I'm buggered (pun very much intended) if I'm gonna let this drop.
