It was the other way round - I think - I do remember:
East Fife 4 - Forfar 5.

But with James Alexander Gordon, it was his intonation for me. He only had to read half a result for you to know whether it was a home win, away win or a draw.

I recall the whole of Lords rising when it was announced during play that John Arlott had just completed his last broadcast. To be fair to Aussies (who were fielding), they all applauded too.

I remember from the early '70's, before I even knew what the pools were, that litany every Saturday.
