How much do we want O'Riley? Is he an upgrade on WBG - and how much do we want to move WBG on? That would be a realistic basis for PX negotiations, perhaps?
It seems as though we want O’Riley quite a lot!

He looks to be quite different to WBG in that he appears to play further forward and has a lot more influence over goal scoring with fantastic stats in both hitting the net and assisting.

A comparison with Moder is surely a better indicator though. Moder has played in an advanced midfielder role for both Potter and RDZ. His goal scoring and assist stats are poor. O’Riley appears to be a similar size but is left footed and has really has smashed the MTL hard. But assists against Lazio and Athletico in the CL hint that he could step-up to the EPL.

Oddly, Moder passes the eye test as a footballer. Fast, strong & good technique. There is just something missing. Something that gave Potter and RDZ little confidence to play him as a CM or CDM. Something that meant his contributions to goals were almost non-existent. I imagine it’s his vision, passing, positioning and shooting?

Hopefully we get our £10m back for him now Naylor has declared he is surplus to requirements. He is the sort of player who could ‘switch’ and have a fantastic season somewhere but for Hürzeler, I’m guessing the passing is not good enough for the ‘Wieffer’ role and his history of passing and assisting does not stack up enough for him to play the ‘Hartley’ character. He seems to be a ‘bottom half of the Premier League’ type player. Hopefully he can find a good home with some team like Leicester or Southampton.

He was pictured with Pedro in Marbella last week, a few of our players on the injury comeback seem to be out there at a specialist physio, or at least they were.
Moder has posted some pics of himself in training on instagram today with the caption "Back at it", which would indeed seem to indicate that he has been out with an injury.

Him, Enciso and Pervis were all in the training photos today. All back to full training.

With Buononotte and probably Barco going out on loan and WBG possibly off, will we keep Moder?

I would think so even tho he's not as good as Buononotte and Barco will be. I like Moder but I don't think he's up to top half PL standards starter but a decent squad player.

Into the last year of his contract, so if we don't sell him in the next week, he's likely leaving for free next Summer

Triple failure for the Poland division of the recruitment team in that case then. :(
It could be argued they were all signed just before we had a huge surge in performance. Moder would still be a decent squad player if we were a bottom half team, it's just unlucky our standards raised a lot while he was out injured and he was almost left behind somewhat.

I think he'll go.

I like Moder too and I've always really wanted him to come good.

With the quality that has developed and come into the squad over the last few years, he just can't compete at that level IMO.

The missus' disappointment will be less seeing as he got married over the summer. Mine will be tempered by the incredible incomings this window.

He'd do well somewhere like Leeds or maybe a top Eredivisie club with enough cash to cover his wages.

Good post.
Would be a good signing for any of the promoted teams or dare I say it any an ambitious championship team like dirrty or Burnley

Yep, the point I was making was that I wasn't aware that it had been previously reported that Moder had an injury (rather than just being absent from matches because he was on the way out of the club).
He was out in Mallorca(?) with all the other injured players -- eg Pervis -- when the squad went out to Japan. Delighted to be able to divulge a FACT to you.

Moder strikes me as exactly the sort of player a team like Leeds should be trying to get. Very versatile, good experience for his age. I'd hope it would be a loan though so we can play hardball at the end of it. 😃
