I get the frustration with his potential, there is a very good player in there and the right manager could well unleash a beast, just like Pascal kind of seemed to be on the peripheral of the squad, with some encouragement and the right man management he excelled, I am kind of hoping for the same.
If we did sell him, what would his value be ?
I really like Jacob (and the great song) I thought he may go on to be a class player and while he has a really good touch I think Dewsbury-Hall will be more effective.
He may want to get away to get more playing time than I suspect he will get in future with the Albion.

It's a curiosity of mine why we changed from a team who couldn't score against Norwich and hadn't won since the Titanic sank to beating Arsenal, Man Utd and others on our way to a top half finish under Potter. It all coincided with Moders unfortunate injury and Potter picking Caciedo instead. We returned to Brighton 0 late last season upon his - albeit largely cameo - return.

I'm not for one minute suggesting this is all down to Moder but it is odd how we've never been free scoring with him in the team. It also shows for all the statistics and analysis how much is down to luck. He was always a mainstay under Potter who was forced into change and then we suddenly flew. For whatever reason, I just don't think Moder suits us.
When Caicedo came in, Potter played him in a double pivot with Biss, he changed the shape. Moder was played all over the place.

That was this morning.
Chelsea have hijacked the KDH part of the deal since.
They did say Chelsea are in for him. What an odd lot Chelsea are.

If we sell moder plus gross that leaves us 2 recognised midfielders.
Whereas Chelsea will have 8: KDH, Caicedo, Fernandez, Gallagher, Lavia, Chukwuemeka, Ugochukwu, Santos,

Just the 2 then
Baleba, Gilmour and Hinsh are all decent options at PL level with high ceilings, already above Moder in the pecking order.

But yes we need at least one new starting quality CM. Maybe two, depending on how Hurzeler's system works.

Rumours of us being after KDH, Wieffer, Gomez, Yalcouye and others suggest that the club is on it. But let's see if any get over the line this time.

Sadly I've given up on him. I've always wanted him to be the next Pascal but for me he flatters to deceive, even before his injury. He never changes the game, he's not a goal threat and I don't think he'll amount to anything other than a squad player here.
I was crucified for saying similar and I entirely agree with your assessment. I was very surprised by the expectation put on his comeback both at matches and on here, it was like we had been watching a different player.

He did okay in the context of some poor performances in the low points of Potter’s tenure, often playing out of position, which perhaps elevated how good he looked in comparison to his underperforming teammates. Despite this, he actually contributed very little of consequence (goals, assists) and was just a cog in the machine performing adequately.

I don’t mind Moder, he’s okay and can put in minutes with competence - but his stats don’t lie and he simply isn’t offering the team enough. He’s prime fodder for an area we need to upgrade, to be blunt.

During the era you are talking of, who would you say was contributing decent numbers in terms of goals and assists?

Nobody. Which is exactly my point, he was one of our better players in a poorly performing side and the outcome is the same - no actual product from it.
