Shame. Would have made a very good centre back I think if given a chance.

Wright is a better centre back than El Abd in my view but it's Poyet's opinion that counts, of course.

Good call I would say. We don't want to get rid, but have to clear the wage bill for new comers, so best he gets that chance to develop and we look at him again in the summer

Right here, right now
Wright was signed as a centre back but used as cover at left back due to McNulty's injury. He has played one game in his favoured position and, by all accounts, did pretty well.

However, we currently have Tunnicliffe, Elphick, El-Abd and (at the moment) Virgo in front of him for a CB spot so it makes sense to send him out and get competitive games. Get another look at him in the summer, depending on who we sign/let go at the end of the season.

Good move. He's got potential, but is reletively young and inexperienced for a centre back at our level. He's also a fair way from being match fit since his injury, lets let Oxford get him right before we have him back.

Maybe the lad never grasped the transition of Conference football to League 1. Everyone thinks he's amazing because he had a good game against mediocre Leyton Orient in a nothing cup.

Best place for him, I just can't see him being good enough for a club with our aspirations.

I have to ask, what are our aspirations bearing in mind we are one place out of the relegation zone ?

Did well against Orient, and i agree it was a nothing cup, but it was a very similar team to that we played boxing day, so was still league 1 standard. Shame he didnt get another chance to back that up, but hopefully he will get some confidence at a good oxford side and come back a better player. Dont forget, Colchester, Norwich and Charlton i believe were all interested and one of those im sure made a larger bid than we did.
