Jake Robinson To Feature In 1st Team Squad...

...from today's Argus, plus Kancheskis p.s....

Sounds like good news to me!

Albion are expected to be unchanged tomorrow but Coppell has hinted that it won't be too long before 16-year-old Jake Robinson becomes more involved with the senior squad.

"Jake has played in recent reserve games and made an impact," Coppell said. "He's fresh and he's lively and we think he has a future.

"Strikers make an impact if they are scoring goals, making good runs or creating goals and in a short space of time you can make a reputation. You only have to look at Wayne Rooney to see that.

"We are not putting any pressure on Jake, it's just part of his education. We are just hoping he progresses and soon he'll be part of the first team squad."

There are no hard feelings over Andrei Kanchelskis' departure according to his agent. The winger had his last Albion training session on Tuesday.

Andy Blocksage said: "It's all quite amicable, there has been no falling out. I think Brighton decided he wasn't going to join so thanks but no thanks, which I can understand."

I had just been reading that. Sounds great news to me and a relief if we suddenly lose Henderson.

Chippy also sounds eager to score

'Richard Carpenter is aiming to rediscover his goal touch to lighten the load on Albion's twin strikers.

The midfielder was on target twice in a 4-1 victory when the Seagulls last visited Colchester two seasons ago.

Now Carpenter reckons the rest of the team must ease the burden on Leon Knight and Darius Henderson as Albion return to Layer Road tomorrow.

Knight has notched five of the dozen League goals for Steve Coppell's side and Henderson two penalties. Gary Hart, Guy Butters and Charlie Oatway have netted one apiece, while the tally has been boosted by two own goals.

Carpenter, who has drawn a blank since mid-March, said: "It's not very often that I score, but I got two at Colchester last time.

"Bobby Zamora was missing for that game, so the onus was on the rest of the team to score and it is the same now. We've got to look for goals from elsewhere around the park and relieve the front men." '

Why mention relieving the front men, that's goiing to do nothing for our reputation.

This is good news re: jake. Also quite interesting about Kanchelskis - looks like we got fed up and told him where to go rather than the other way round...

Thats what I heard from somebody extremely well connected on Tuesday night.

Interesting that Tuesday turned out to be his last day with us.

Bravo I say - he had plenty long enough to reach a decision - we had enough problems with last season's mercenary Mr. Kitson than laying ourselves open for another one.

I think that would be the perfect opportunity. Middlesbrough is just too tough a game, otherwise the LC would be a chance, as we threw a couple of kids in at Ipswich last year.

Dont play him in the first team til he has signed for us!

You just know he's gonna get poached like an egg....

If that is the case, surely giving him some first team experience could bump up the tribunal price?

Obviously I'm hoping he'll go nowhere, so keep him quiet, shh...

:jester: 's all of them...

Could be on the bench at Middlesboro assuming Reading still won't let Henderson play.
