Could Nicky and Jake be the first EVER father and son combo to play league football together?

Has it happened before?

I think Teddy and his Son Charlie Sherringham played against each other , unless i have got it completely wrong.

At work - probably
Apparently, when Hereford played Aldershot on 1 May 1990, their No 11 was Gary Bowyer. He was joined on the field during the second half by his father, Ian, the former Nottingham Forest player and at that time the Hereford player-manager.

Albion will tell their sought-after schoolboy star Jake Caskey: “You’re better off staying with us.”

Caskey, the 14-year-old son of former Spurs midfielder Darren, scored the winner for the Seagulls under-18s at Luton on Saturday.

He is attracting interest from other clubs, believed to include Premier League outfits.

A big club could tempt the associate schoolboy away providing they pay Albion compensation.

However, Seagulls director of football Martin Hinshelwood says Caskey, who was recommended to the club by first-team skipper Nicky Forster, would do better staying where he is.

Asked if other clubs were pursuing Caskey, Hinshelwood said: “There is interest.

“I believe a player has a better chance at a smaller club and you can still move on from there.

“The opportunity is here to play youth-team football as well.

“Jake is a good footballer who wants to play and wants to learn.

“We like to feel he is getting the right treatment and encouragement here.

“Our record over the last few seasons is good in terms of boys coming through, signing professional and playing for the first team.”

Forster tipped Albion off about the young midfielder, who is his stepson, when he joined the club almost two years ago.

Under his current terms, Caskey attends training sessions after school and during holidays. He also plays for the under-16s.

Hinshelwood added: “When we had a look at Jake, we liked what we saw straight away.”

No different to any other Kid playing for the Albion at that age, they all play up in the under 16s due to lack of games at 15s where alot of temas either play them down or up depending on size etc, or possibly size of squads.

He's playing u-18's though..

Loads of kids from the lower age groups get to play for the U18's. Look at the team sheets and compare them to our list of scholars. You'll note a number of names that are actually school boys. He hasn't played that often for the U18's, I think there are a number of younger kids who have played more than him.

Additionally, the bigger clubs are always sniffing around and offering youngsters deals. They take anyone they can who shows a bit of potential. You may recall Adam El-Abd turning down the chance to join Man United? As far as I know the lad looks decent but there's a long way to go in his development.
