Although there had been previous violence in the couple's relationship, Ms Nash told police she thought she could change Jenkin.
She said that she had helped him get out of trouble for hurting her on previous occasions.

Is there anything 'right' in the whole report.

anger, vengeance - yep, really evolved ways at tackling deep issues within someone....sigh.
Normally you're someone I laugh AT, on this issue you are just a do gooding prat, the "deep issues" with this animal are that he's a violent bully who has never had to learn that you cant behave that way , now he's been taught that there are repercussions for that sort of behaviour, I too hope he never gets out , as for vengeance ? I've never seen anything wrong with a bit of vengeance anyway if it helps the injured party.

According to the wanker that did the attack he was the injured party though because she would not see him.

He has been put in a psychiatric hospital, and could stay there indefinitely, which is far longer than what the OP was trying to infer.

The woman who was attacked declined to give evidence against him, which makes the job of the prosecution more difficult.

what's actually sick here is the fact that a life sentence doesn't mean life in the slightest. IMO life should mean the rest of your life - behind bars, bread and water
I'm 42. If I got a life sentence next week, I should die in prison, not be released when I'm, say 50, to potentially live in freedom for another few decades

Seems a bit of a harsh sentence for you, surely sniffing Gully's Girls bicycle seats is wrong, but it does not warrant life. If you do go down for it, any chance of your season ticket?

For the last three weeks I have had issues with my right eye. I am unable to see out of it properly. Its scary, its worrying, and I feel so sorry for this poor women. Having one bad eye is bad enough, but losing two because some fing nutter decided to gougle them out is something else. It's sickening and I worry what is going on some peoples minds. And I stick by it, I hope he suffers and I hope he never gets out.

This poor women will never see her kids grow up properly now.

exactly what i said - a societal issue. hammering him will not stop it happening again, looking at the societal cause can. this for me, is a real solution.....but totally understand ppl wanting to take it all out on him.

Didn't he plead guilty so there was no need for her to give evidence, however it does appear she didn't help in previous cases of violence against her by him. Had she done, she might well still have her sight!

So whilst we are tackling the problems of society you are quite happy for violent thugs to roam the streets rather than locking them up? I'm loathe to ask but what exactly do you see are the problems and what is your solution that will prevent crimes like this happening?

Going back to the OP, I agree with EP above in that the minimum term is 6 years. Some people automatically, and incorrectly, read this to mean he will be let out in six years.

far too much to go into here to dissect this and provide a whole new system infrastructure.

what i am saying is that vengeance is not the answer, nor locking them up - these things are leaf pruners - need to get to the trunk - which are societal issues.

problems are in the hundreds but one simply could throw out; lack of opportunity, control by the corps, inflation, interest on debt, tax, alcoholism, etc etc.

not once have i said i am not happy for violent ppl to roam the streets, i just said locking the occasional one up with anger is far from the solution.

six years as a MINIMUM term is still far too low.

In other words, you, like everyone else, knows there are problems with society, but you haven't a clue to put it right. Imprisoning someone can serve 3 functions. Punishment, deterrence and protection.

i have a big clue, but am currently frying these fish in other pans, and will not waste the time to get into it, and the resulting binfest on a football forum.....no point, waste of my energy.

I wouldn't expect someone like you to say anything different.
