Acting legend Jack has sadly passed away.

Love thy Neighbour and For the Love of Ada to name just a couple of his magnum opuses.

EDIT:

Spelling error in one of the TV titles.

He was also in King Ralph as the father of Miranda - the commoner who King Ralph falls for.

A tad surprised that NSC's RIP thread starting stalwart wasn't all over PJ O'Rourke yesterday. This one seems a little more niche.

Doesn't magnum opus mean "The best" of something? This pedant wants to know how more than one thing can be considered the best in this context - particularly given the OP only naming 'a couple' of his magnum opuses / magna opera / magnum double caramels - how many do you think he can have?!

Well, if we have to make a choice, I will go for a Rasberry Magnum.

He also played Dolly’s husband, (Thelma Barlow ) in the episode where they all brought their relatives to work for a Christmas party

He was a very good actor

Not entirely sure The Bear Pit was designed for fisticuffs over the Latin plural of magnum opus.

How about: unfunny actor, the delight of racists and gammons, dies? ???
