I'm not sure he was good enough although would have given him a bit longer to prove himself.

Thanks for the pen at Cardiff Chris!

Iwelumo...

He appears to have signed already and has turned white (I think the wording on the photo means they are awaiting a pic)!

I used to live near Aachen, in a town called Hoensbrook over the border in Holland. Wet to see Ted Nugent at the Aachen equivalent of the Guildhall.

Good luck

Blimey, didn't see that one coming! Thought he was going to Doncaster according to McGhee. Iwelumo did spend a bit of time playing in the Danish league so he's got experience of European football. Aachen could be good bets to go up to the Bundesliga 1 this season so it could be a good move for him. Plus he'll get to play in their two UEFA cup games!

Thanks for the penalty Chris, and that goal against Chesterfield!

This from the Aachen website. Translated using Google...

"Ivan Petrovic (photo) participated already in the last week in the training camp of the blackyellow in Honderloo and in the coming season the back number 10 will carry. The midfield player played last with Napredak Krusevac (Serbia Montenegro).

Chris Iwelumo strengthens however the storm row of the Alemannia. It changes from Brighton & Hove Albion at the Tivoli. The Scot was last lent for a half year of Stoke town center at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Joerg Schmadtke: Ivan Petrovic we a player for the 10er-Position engaged. The impressions, which it left with us in training, are to be marked as throughout positively and I think, with it we a very good catch made. To Chris Iwelumo I can say that we succeeded to find with him a stuermer who is so often not offered on the market. He is a stuermer of English coinage and I thinks that we can round off our cadre with him and also Petrovic?

The data of the two players:

Ivan Petrovic , born to 11.1.1980 in Jagodina
Position: Centre zone
Size: 174 cm
Weight: 68 kg
Former associations: FC Jagodina, since 1996 Napredak Krusevac

Chris Iwelumo , born to 1.8.1978 in Glasgow
Position: Storm
Size: 193 cm
Weight: 82 kg
Former associations: Pc. Mirren, FC Aarhus, Stoke town center, York town center, Cheltenham Town, Stoke town center, Brighton & Hove Albion"

Good grief.
He turns down a 2 year deal at a club in "The Championship" to go and play in the German Second Division, in front of 120 fans in leiderhosen, and a daschund.

I saw Allemania Aachen in October last year - they are a VERY decent side, and would beat the pants off any English Second Div side. Would easily hold their own in our First Div (or Championship). What Chris has to look forward to is a great little stadium, passionate fans, and a great atmosphere - so some improvement on Withdean! Whether he ever gets a look in for their first team remains to be seen.

Don't you believe it, mate....as per my post above, Aachen fans are the tops, and in terms of generating an atmosphere, would put us lot to shame - even at the Goldstone.

OK then here we go:

Iwelumo is some sort of "Stuermer", guessing thats an old WWII fighter plane of some sort and he is as old as shillings?!?! Also is able to round off the "cadre", assuming thats dinner, with Petrovic!

I don’t think he would have been that great for us in Division One.

But good luck to him in Germany.
