Even though it is a couple of days old:

Leeds United's disappointment at losing the arbitration into their 15-point penalty has been compounded after it emerged that they must pay around £500,000 in costs to the Football League.

The arbitration panel ruled last week that Leeds, who play in next week's League One play-offs against Carlisle, should settle the league's costs of defending the case.

Apollo GGGG if fixtures.

They probably just won't pay as per usual.

brighton, actually
the 'new' leeds company will probably say the 'old' company incurred the debt, and deny liability..

go on, take another 10 points off.. then they would just fold again, and start over..

imo this and indeed any club that can't run itself shouldn't be allowed to continue in ANY (professional) league.

unexpected £200k from stoke this week, £200k thanks to leeds rhinos paying the tax bill for the esu and £100k because our attendances this season have been on average 5k a game more than the 'budget' and some from those who believed in what bates was doing.

not a problem.

good luck with mickey. not read much on here recently, hope going back works out for you guys.

"£200k thanks to Leeds Rhinos paying the TAX bill for esu"...............so, you profit from someone paying their tax bill.........................and you also profit..(by paying higher wages for better players) by NOT paying your tax bill.

You couldn,t make it up............! Disgusting...just like your club !

we profit because the rhinos wanted to open the esu for the melbourne game. we had not paid the rates for that stand as leeds united did not intend using it this season (and wouldn't have done so)

since LR had paid for it and it was in a usable state bates decided to open it up at the cost of £20 a head for the gills game. it sold out. the ruhinos were happy because they got 40k, that is why they play at er after all.

Ken Bates has wasted the Football League's time with this enquiry. So it is only fair that they receive some compensation from him.

Ken Bates has wasted the Football League's time with this enquiry. So it is only fair that they receive some compensation from him.

Ken Bates wil never, ever, spend any of his own money on anything to do with Leeds. He will wriggle as much as possible, and if it does get paid, as Starry says, it will come from themoney the club and team have made, and therefore will not be available for the playing budget.

Mr Bates has the oppertunity to be Leeds' Abramovich, their Jack Walker, just like Archer could have been for us, but instead his true colours are to take, take and take, and then when there is nothing left to take, he'll take some more. I hope his mother loved him, everyone deserves someone to love them.

The sooner he and his like are out of football, the sooner football fans can reclaim their clubs.
