It may be corrupted files and the like.

I think if you restore it, it'll sort itself out.

Don't do it untill someone that's more au fait it with comes along.

Just checked mine, and it's got over 6 gig of it!

I can't restore because it's jailbroken, which'll teach me. :annoyed:

As a side, it's worth noting the 'other' section will still probably exist even on a brand new ipod/iphone as this is the category that things like the operating system etc are filed under (I think?)

There is no way that album artwork takes up 2.1gb of space. The little album cover pictures are teeny tiny and take up very little space. Even if you had a library of over 1,000 different albums you'd be unlikely to hit even 1gb.

The iPod's OS always takes up some of the "other" and the true space is never as much as the quoted amount anyway. i.e. an 8gb iPod will never have room for 8gb of music.

Best bet is probably just to restore the iPod and reload it with what you want. Hopefully you'll find a lot of that mysterious "other" disappears after the refresh

Good point, the ios is under that, but not near his 2 gig or my 6 gig mark, so what is it you clever lot out there?

What kind of iPod is it? If you're using an iPod Touch there are all manner of things that could take up space under "other". However if it's a regular "dumb" iPod then you shouldn't have so much space given over to this mysterious "other"

I've found out why mine was carrying so much 'other'.

Where I've downloaded loads of apps, especilly biggies like Tom Tom, Fifa 12 for example, through Installous ( jailbroken ), although I've installed them I didn't delete the files from Installous.

Now I have, gone from 6.2g down to 1.26g.
