I don't understand why people have such a downer on Sven.

Mainly because he sabotaged our 2006 World Cup, and indulged his players to such an extent that every England get-together was nothing more than an old pals jolly-up. We were an embarrassment by the end.

Hmm could it be money bags Man City or maybe even Chelsea if Hiddink doesn't stay on?

Dullest most negative football I've ever seen from an England team, even if we did scrape lots of 1-0. Totally useless when pitting his wits against genuine quality managers once we reached the finals though. His rabbit caught in the headlights impersonation whilst watching the team fall apart on the field during the pathetic exits during the finals was also quite irritating

The fact is that Sven started out with England as a good coach - new ideas (tactics, fitness, diet etc..) - However after a few years in the job and under the media spotlight that went with it, you got the idea that he just gave up.

You can pretty much link his private life disasters to when England started to slide. It is very difficult to respect a manager/boss unless they adhere to the rules they lay down for you. Once Eriksson was caught with his pants down, it pretty much gave the England players carte blanche to do what they pleased.

I dont think Sven was or is a bad fottball manager, I would just question his priorities and hunger to succeed again.

What about when we were CHEATED out of the game against Portugal at Euro 2004, when Sol Campbell had a perfectly good goal disallowed?
