Looks a bit like Ford Field in Detroit. And there was I thinking that nothing could be much uglier than the existing Stamford Bridge.

I notice that the same architects produced the boring new Bordeaux stadium, which replaces one of Europe's most elegant grounds, the Girondins' beautiful art deco Parc Lescure, built for the 1938 World Cup. Not a good precedent.

Those pictures don't look great but building it from brick sounds like a step in the right direction.

Would everyone prefer if they just chucked up more steel and plastic cladding

Can't say that those pictures give much away so it could still be amazing or ugly as sin...should be interesting to see either way.
