It's been said before and it has to be said again - WE MISS VIRGO

Virgo up front:

Played 13, won 6, drawn 3, lost 4

Virgo not up front:

Played 8, won ZERO, drawn 1, lost 7

These figures are not statistical blips - you could see why we need Virgo today.

Claridge is no targetman - Frank Sinclair had him in his pocket all day and although he didn't get much protection from the ref, Claridge still has to adapt and cope with that.

Virgo would not get dominated by defenders like that. He ties up so much of the defence and allows other players to play off him, as Claridge did last week.

We really need that McCammon loan.

The 4-5-1 didn't work but it was still probably the best bet to keep the midfield together that played so well last week. Alas Nicolas was not in the game and Chippy's passing was very poor, Currie was quiet.

Ironically, Leon did very welll as a winger.

The goal was a nightmare - Michel has to catch balls in the air one on one with an attacker - bad day for the Michel fan club.

He's also suspended for Rotherham, which is much more worrying.

Those stats are just one big coincidence then?

Our play fell apart today because nothing was sticking up front. Should McGhee have changed back to 4-4-2 and give Claridge more support?

Tough one this.

I reckon he probably should have, but McGhee probably thought the game was drifting for a draw and the point would have been OK.

Burnley had a great period towards the end of the first half - but their goal came out of nowhere - just shit defending at a set piece - Cullip missed and Kuipers exposed to make a bad mistake.

We DID NOT MISS VIRGO as an attacking player what we misssed was him coming back to help out at set pieces at the back. He wil NEVER be a forward.

The result to day was down to two mistakes.

1. Complete cock up by Kuipers for their goal.

2. Mistake by MM at half time. Carpeneter wasn't doing anything right and we were not getting enough on their goal so he should have put Hart on on the Right of Midfield instead of Carpenter and pushed Knight further up front to feed off of Claridge.

MM got it right last week but wrong this.

As I thought. So what's your point?

Errr....we miss Virgo?

That not clear then?

If YOUR point is we shouldn't be discussing suspended players, then I disagree - there is a dispute about whether we need to play Virgo up front if he's available - every time we play without him, the answer is clear.

I see. Well, it would appear that Mr McGhee would agree with you, so there's really no need to get so worked up about it!

:glare:

Goal for the 3pts at Leicester.

Goal for the 3pts at Forest.

Touch that forced Carlisle OG for 3pts at Leeds.

Salvaged the draw at Watford.

Won the decisive free kick at West Ham.

You have very high standards, BG, a bit too high for our current situation.

When you've just got pissed on for two hours and watch your team lose to a shit goal, you tend to be a bit sensitive.

We should have had Knight up front not right wing - I like MM but it is hard work understanding the team selection and tactics.
