All level at the top after I f***ed up and forgot to sort my team out for my top of the table clash against second placed Wylde Rovers. I started the game with 9 players, and no goalkeeper, then ended up losing the game 3-2. As a result they've nicked top spot, but only on goal difference. I'm really hacked off after having been top of the table all season long.

But at any rate it looks like I'm going up to Division 195. Huzzah! But I do want my first trophy so gotta hope them Wylde Rovers boys lose some points somewhere, or my boys give one fo the two teams we face this week a good hiding to overcome the goal difference

My second team lie 4th, but need something special to go up - too many draws this season.

Unfortunately however you need to be positively loaded to afford any under the age of 30 and as a result my team is made up of pensioners who will inevitably retire before long, leaving me with nowhere near enough players to compete

Go for mid range free transfers go about 15-20 pages in. Dont go for the highly rated ones or the best youngsters cos every one goes for them. Offer 5 year contracts house car and bonus then train them up. ( ensure you have got a 90 or 100 rated coach ).

i did that last season and managed to get 10 in and 3 have trained up to 90 rated players. ( Look at their value untrained compare that to players you already have of similar age and you can get a rough idea of whether they are likely to be duds or not).

Not foolproof as i have taken on a few that didnt improve as well as i expected , but these you can put on the transfer market advertise in transfer forum and raise funds to buy others in.

Don't turn your noses up at the older players. My best striker is 38 years old. He's got over 25 goals this season.
In fact I would buy the older players if they still need training.
The best time to buy anyone is early in the morning when the update is finished, I have bid for players at 6am and got them.

This season I am in 4th place and that is because the season started on Boxing Day when I was still away for Christmas. I missed the first 4 games.

Other team is 5th may get 4th but no promotion, but I only had them for 2/3 of season.
