One of the greatest (and longest) intro's to one of my all time favourite Temptations songs.

Stomping start to the day, Barrow Boy. That must be a contender for one of the best cover versions of all time

How many songs name an actual date? There can't be many of them.

3rd September 1983, the day Chelsea took over the Goldstone, and the police got a battering on the pitch at the end of the game.
And Chris Hutchings was arrested for inciting a riot!

Motown protect most of their original stuff on YouTube but I thought this was a pretty good cover.

'Kill Kill Kill The Bill'. Me and some mates as 14 year olds shitting ourselves in the old chicken run.

Chelsea fans strutting around in bowler hats a la A Clockwork Orange

Remember Steve Foster's smoking pistol salute when we equalised or made it 2-1?

Not a two finger salute of course not Fozzie:lolol:

I was walking down Preston Street on the Chelsea match day after the match, and 50-60 of them turned the corner and started coming up the street.... luckily for me, but unlucky for him... a policeman decided to stop them... gave me the opportunity to leg it whilst they battered him

'My Book' - The Beautiful South

This is my life and this is how it reads
For every chapter, a thousand memories
A murder, a mystery where everybody bleeds
A fantasy, a thriller with romance and disease
Diary entry 9th of May '62
We've had some ugly babies but none were quite like you
Diary entry '62 end of May
It looks as if the nose and chin are definiteley here to stay
They're here to stay, they're here to stay
If my lips start smiling and my knees start a-knockingI'm a failure
You are, you are
And if I seem half-hearted, it's because I'm broken hearted
And I'm a failure
You are, you are, you are (I am)You are, you are, you are (I am)
This is my life and this is how it reads
A documentary that nobody believes
Albert Steptoe in 'Gone with the Breeze'
Mother played by Peter Beardsley, father by John Cleese
Diary entry '68 end of the year
A cardboard Apollo 6 has given the all clear
11th December '68 Captain's log
Proposed trip to Mars is cancelled due to fog
It's due to fog, it's due to fog
If my lips start smiling and my knees start a-knocking
I'm a failure
You are, you are
And if I seem half-hearted, it's because I'm broken hearted
And I'm a failure
You are, you are, you are (I am)You are, you are, you are (I am)
This is the play, it was I who wrote the script
Terry meets June in 'Tales from the Crypt'
It was going to be a film but the camera person slipped
They later found him scolding a banana
Diary entry 10th of April '89
The world is going mad but me I'm doing fineI'm doing fine
Back to bed, back to reality
Just fine.

U2's Pride mentions a date.

"Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride"

Martin Luther King's assassination.

Oh, and 3rd of September is my mum's birthday.

One of my grandads lived in Scotswood Road, the other one lived in Blaydon. And the one who lived in Scotswood Road worked in Armstrong's factory, with my grandmother (the one who married the grandfather who lived in Blaydon).
