Used to like the Pig in Paradise when it was full of students and soapdodgers. £1.30 a pint if you had an NUS card.

Or if you were chummy with the staff.

:smokin:

Now it's just a crap Polar bar.

:(

Not the real one
JEM, Gloucester can be a laugh on a saturday night. although granted its not as good as it was around 1993-96. used to have a great crowd and good music. Had to stop going a couple of years back as got barred with a mate (his fault) and the bastard bouncers remembered us for 2 years! went back a few years back and it changed to the Brighton Gloucester, not as good as before though. No fast food counter and dancefloor with lights. At least the shooters bar is still in there. Best club if you like indie 60's and 70's rock ie. Clash, Bowie, Jam, Kinks, Primal Scream, charlatans etc is the Pavilion Tavern Club, above the pub, previously known as Shades, Class on Saturday.

I got barred a few years ago too but was let in after about 6 months. To most people it is a 'last resort' when they can't get in anywhere else. But to be fair I haven't been since it's been refurbished and re-named The Brighton Gloucester. I hear it's got good goth/rock nights at times.

The Pavilion Tavern aka 'the Pav Tav' which used to be a decent pub to start the evening, or a good place to take a lady for lunch. Now it has been hollowed out and has crap game machines or a pool table or something, and has been painted by goths or students. It's a travesty.

In my defence, I was left unsupervised.

the richmond, the old free butt (back when it was tiny tiny) and the Albert when it did good music and was a shithole :drink:

Ahh! the Albert! Used to see the Fish Brothers (duo) downstairs on Thursday nights. Fantastic. Bit yuppified now.

it was a great pub/venue till the bloke from the concorde bought it, stopped doing gigs, and as you say - turned it into a pub for office yuppies to have half a fosters at lunchtime.

getting slightly back on track i hear now they've got will free butt doing the gigs.
