It all started

when Hammond left for Colchester.
having thought about this diabolical season it all started with the dispute over Hammond's wages last season and the fact that Dean Wilkins stood up for him against DK and this was maybe the beginning of the end for Dean Wilkins (the results started to go downhill then) and of coarse we all know the ending of this sad story.
my other half had it right when she said if he is worth it then pay him the money, Albion did'nt and he left the question is "do you think that had DK known some of how this would turn out would he have relented and gave Hammond what he was asking for it would after all have saved an awful lot of trouble"

It all started when we sold Virgo to Celtic and didn't get to spend any money replacing him.

Oh and for whats its worth I don't think Hammond was worth being the highest paid player in our history.

no neither did i think he was worth it nor did many of us including DK .........but if asked now maybe he was particularly after seeing some of the S**t we have had to loan

If only Smith had scored

could have been that

Why did we sell zamora

or that

You could equally say it all started when knight left...

but definitely NOT that

Hmm, hindsights a wonderful thing I guess. Though I still wouldn't have him back for that amount of money.

Focusing on one player, it doesn't seem that Hammond made a whole lot of difference to the side - and certainly not enough for it to have affected our performances since.
Anyway, we really didn't do so badly after he left, in the rest of that season.

For me, it looks clear enough; the natural assembly of a team - including the letting go of certain players and the bringing in of reserve players - is healthy for a club. It's the circulation of its' body, if you like. That circulation was nurtured by Wilkins and disrupted by Adams, and then MA's management technique was found seriously wanting (and lacking imagination all around).
Of COURSE the results started going down the toilet - and when loanees and gimmicks were employed (Oh de-Savage), it represented something way less than inspiring to the lads who had worked for this club and transferred that feeling to the field and other incoming players.

Thus the club became just a group of people gathered here by some shambolic cultivation of who's-out-there-that-will-join-us-that-have-some-talent-and-want-a-paycheck. Is that a club? And would you and I join a club that consisted of a random pack of people who just happened to share the same profession?
Now, even the manager has been acquired here in the same way as these imported faces!!

There ya go, about as obvious a reasoning as comes to my mind - and it DOES seem pretty obvious, actually.
Oddly, we now actually do have one of the most talented squads I've seen at BHAFC for many years..... and they'll be taking us downdowndown with those talents. Proving - there's more to the sport than what ability a bunch of people possess - and there's more to a club than the faces passing through it on their way through a profession.

I had that very argument with a Notts County fan last Sunday. Sadly, even though he was at the game, he was unable to remember it, so the argument never really got going.

God should never have created Adam and Eve.

It all went down-hill after that, and we've been going to hell in handcart ever since (continues on every page of the Daily Mail)

i thought hammond left because of the club's lack of ambition.

despite us just signing our most expensive player in 25 years and a couple of other players.
