Great thread @Uncle Spielberg . Our fixed rate with Nationwide is up in March but they don't seem to have reflected the latest round of interest rate cuts. Not sure how long to hang on or how long to fix for when we do go for a new deal.

Go find a new rate elsewhere.

Staying with your current provider is only really worth it if you have a change in circumstances that will affect you negatively - a loss of job, or a change in earning circumstances (you / your co applicant have gone freelance and don't have books to show) - you usually face fewer checks on a renewal. But you will get a better rate looking around.

Mortgage Brokers are definitely worth their money in this tougher market.

Absolutely this. @Uncle Spielberg has been dealing with our mortgage renewal that is coming up soon, and is constantly checking the markets and getting us a better rate. He is very competitive with the fees he's charged us and I highly recommend him.

Can't recommend @Uncle Spielberg enough. Hes currently sorting out our mortgage that was in two parts with different fix ending dates and getting us a good rate at the same time, and all done quickly. Thank you!

Unc- quick question- my fixed rate ends in December, how do I find out what my repayments would be were it to come to an end tomorrow for example? TIA

Hi mate - please ignore if it’s not within your realms of expertise!

I’m going through the process of selling my garage to my neighbours. The garage is on a compound about 50 yards from mine and my neighbours houses.

We’ve agreed a price and we are going through our respective solicitors to finalise everything.

However my solicitor today has told me there’s an issue with the ‘filed plan’ and I’ll need to pay a surveyor to redraw it.

There’s more detail to this but don’t want to waste your time if it’s not in your arena.
Cheers

Just a quick shout out. Just to say that if anyone needs Mortgage advice or needs to remortgage etc ,then I fully recommend you use Uncle Spielberg . I have just remortgaged using him , and I can say it was painless and no hassle whatsoever with a quick efficient service . Charges were on the low side , esp when NSC discount applied . I wouldn't hesitate using him again if I need to .
