Is Wilkins a good coach?

I keep reading on here that the club has fallen apart on the coaching side since Wilkins and Chapman left. That Adams, White and Booker are a bunch of inept clowns.

Is there any real proof of this? Do we know who holds what coaching badges?

According to some on here Wilkins wasn't even attending training for the last three months of his reign.

Were the players fitter last season than they are this?

If Wilkins is so good how come he hasn't been snapped up as a coach or head of a youth academy by another club?

He did a very good job with the youth team and we looked better organised last season.

Then again the latter might be more of a comment on the current coaching staff!

You pose some interesting questions.

If it is true that DW didn't attend training in the last three months, who gets the credit for our rise in that time from the lower reaches of the division to 7th place?

Why do people continue to try and knock Wilkins after doing such a good job last season. Who knows whether it was him, or more to do with Chapman but the fact remains we came through a very difficult season having lost key players and brought in replacements to finish 7th.
He was treated terribly by getting the axe so people should lay off him.

It will be popular belief that the current team are not good coaches because of the results, but there's no evidence of this. It's pretty much infalsifiable.
Not results, performances. You can tell if a team is well coached or not, if they continually make errors and look like individuals rather than a team, often look like there is no plan, then that team is poorly coached. Therefore one has to assume the coaches are not good ones.

I wasn't knocking Wilkins at all. Unlike many I liked him as a player, and thought he was doing a reasonable job as a manager so was very surprised when he was sacked.

I was just interested, if it is true he wasn't around for the last three months of training, who did what to contribute to our rise to 7th. You mention Chapman, but not White. Do you know what any of them did? It might not suit those who criticise White to give him any credit for what happened last season but how many know exactly who did what?
