I think only Henry is better.

Pavel Nedved or Zidane have far more skill, depends whether you are just thinking goals

nope he isn't just yet - he may become a goal scoring machine but he'll never have the class or footskill of the Zidanes or that stupid Ronal(can't even bear to type the rest of his name) of the game...

Rooney is the greatest idiot-savant since Gazza. Come the next World Cup if he hasn't self-destructed or been crocked, he'll be nailed on to be Player Of The Tournament, and hence 'best player in the world'. Tho the tabloids will be calling him that as early as tomorrow morning.

I'm just relieved he went to United where Ferguson will look after him, instead of joining the idiots like Dyer & Bellamy up at Newcastle.

He has the potential to be a great player, but also the potential to lose it all like Gazza

Too early for that obviously, but he is frightening. The kid can't possibly be match-fit yet, and look what he's done to a good side who didn't play badly tonight.

It wasn't just the goals, he was shrugging off experienced international defenders like they weren't there, and still only 18. Unbelievable. That combination of brute strength, sublime shooting ability, a magical first touch and the 'football brain' of Gazza COULD make him an all-time great.

Indeed. Much as I hate Ferguson he knows how to bring young players on.

Anyone think Moyes must be a bit of a shit manager? Rooney was average at Everton at times....when ever he played for England he looked world class and now this.....

"I'm trying to put together a squad of young players who in 18 months will be a good team. They can be a part of that."

Bit harsh. Rooney is playing alongside quality players now not a team of hoofers. And if Rooney looked average at Everton, how the hell did he get into the England side?

Moyes has done pretty well with the players he's had to work with.

I agree about Fergie though. He does know how to bring the young players on.
