Nice one guys. Just asking the question. Interesting range of responses, some of them a little defensive, some of them very valid. As I said, like the fans who stand with their back to the game singing to the crowd is not for me, but doesn't stop me attending the match. After all, is this not about opinions and the diversity of views?

I accept fully that the audience here does not necessarily come for non-football related topics as well. However, beware. There is a risk with forums becoming so obsessed with the smaller hard core community they forget the objectives of the forum and the wider community at large. The risk there is you find you lose your main objective and subsequently a key audience fundamental to the original aims and before you know it a NSC II appears.

Secondly, if you are in the business of attracting sponsorship and online advertising revenues you need to be more insightful. Having dealt with a number of online revenue streams I can tell you it is now common for client to receive refunds where adbnormal click thru rates were detected on site advertising and the turnover of advertisers high where the demographic of the online community was not what is was professed to be.

Whatever you learn from this question, NEVER tell your community or a contributing member to piss off, except perhaps non-constructive/destructive constributors. You'll pay a severe price in reputation and loyalty if you let yourself believe an online prescence is anything more than community or the sum of its parts. I don't think it was meant, but I never want to see that again. This is much better than that. Keep it up, keep it Albion.

NSC is around 7 years old. It has worked on the same formula and has grown and grown, all I can say is, patronising and "pseudo helpful" fools like you have come and have gone. NSC is still moving forward and the people are loving it more and more.

I for one enjoy all that is NSC - all the football, all the banter, all the off topics all the debates and all the arguments.
This all goes hand in hand with football - so when you go to the match you talk about nothing but football all day? You never once say - did you see that programme on tv last night? Id imagine going to the game with you is a bundle of laughs.

Look at some other forums they are not exclusive either - people are people, they like to people and not robots.

Change any of NSC and you do lose the unique identity that it has.

Twickers - if you feel so strongly about it - start your own 'NSC 2' as you put it, Iam sure you will then have the kind of forum you will be looking for, which you can enjoy without having to put up with the likes of me and other people you have insulted with this thread.

You choose as we all do to visit this board, if you dont like it go elsewhere - that is your choice - dont come on here preaching in what I feel is a patronising tone.

I do actually agree with Dwaynes comments, people like you come and go, but NSC is still here 7 years on.

I am usually a calm mannered sensible poster, but I have to say your comments have rifled me. But then thats what NSC is all about - keep it up!!

PS - 'Piss off', your lucky you havent had worse than that, but like you said it is about opinions and diversity of views and this is mine.
No one person can dictate what is said and what isnt on here, thats the beauty of it, if you want to run a closed forum thats up to you. I for one dont want that.

Oh yeah and, I actually really like football and the albion - do you think we will be promoted this year?

There is not much going on at the moment. If you posted a football related topic, I am sure we will all answer you. Instead (as I may point out) you post about how no-one talks about football - rather ironic don't you think?

I tend to also post on bbc 606 site. Fans from other 2nd division teams get together, and that is purely about football. The only problem, is that there are not many seagull supporters on there.

Even when a thread is started about football it can take a 180 deg turn in the middle and end up being totally different

I was guilty of that myself yesterday evening starting to talk about Bobby Zamora and ended up talking about how much red wine you can buy in Calais.

I've tried starting several football related threads today...

Man Utd to sign wonderkid...
Mcmanaman to Newcastle...
Francis to sue Palace...
Brighton v QPR preview...
Let the moths out...
Etc...

They hardly got a response, looks like off topic for me from now on!

Supply & Demand :lolol:

curious orange,

went along to Woking y'day and have been few times in past - how often do you go along. Y'day game thought was one of two halves Woking in 1st Scarborough in second - cracking goal from them though. Thought the ref was spot on with early decisions wanted game to flow. Dont often see a femal linesman sorry lineswoman. Poor crowd though 1900, been before when get closer 3000 mark, though suppose cant expect many visitors. Pity they now scrapped the sit/stand anywhere for same price as I think one great things about their ground is the ability to move about behind each goal they attack each half etc. I think the std between them and professional is getting closer all the time. Looked to me like another season like last if Woking start well then sit back on their lead, though they shouldve had the game finished by half time as Scarborough were poor in the first.

I refer to my original post, I have been contributing to NSC since it's inception. It's for the love of such a community I am keen we maintain that people come, fools pseudo helpful or otherwise, and less of the gone thus my original question. Have some insight and you might not undersell this by blabbering on about "the same formula". People love things more and more because the formula evolves. Long may BHA and it's associated community evolve as I for one like to feel it's better than most.

It's not like we don't talk about football issues.

If any hint of news about football is heard, it is discussed at length on here.

In the last year or so, has there ever been a piece of football news (not just Brighton) that hasn't appeared on NSC?

Absolutley, that is what I do love about it - nobody can acuse NSC of not having it's eyes and ears open.

On NSC for over two decades...
The good thing about NSC is that it is a bit like having a chat with your mates down the pub, except that the majority of people are Albion fans so don't mind at all if you drone on about them!!!

The off and on topic threads provide colour to the board, some entertain, some frustrate, some inform, some make you think, some are really boring, and lots are about Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club. I get to pick and choose what I read and contribute to, a freedom I would miss greatly if it was taken away from me.

Where it is priceless is when there is breaking news, like when a game or a news conference is on. You often get the quickest information, and discussion of the implications right here - like when Bobby was introduced to the press by Spurs.

:)

FG - It was my first visit to Woking for a league match, having only previously attended the friendly against the mighty Stripes a couple of weeks ago. I quite enjoyed the game, Woking look quite strong going forward but need to concentrate a bit harder!! The Ref was awful though, he ignored his lineswoman at least three times when she'd actually managed to make a correct call. I think Woking might actually have a good season from what I've seen.

What a great non-football thread you started Twickers.

I love NSC because it is, for me, a virtual pub where the discussions can switch and change at a moments notice from the merits of Danny Cullip in a flat back four to the chances of any of us getting to shag Jordan.

The whole point Twickers is that it is a chat-room. People chat about anything and everything, not just football.

Do you think Twickers, that one of the most important and influential threads ever - the Robert Eaton / Twin Towers tragedy - should not have appeared on here because it was not related to the specific football issues.

If you don't like the thread - don't read it. It will soon drop off the board.

Above all, chill out. Whether you post once a week or once every nano-second (hello Braders) it doesn't matter. Just enjopy the chat.:D
