Is the Wilkins saga the biggest cock up made by a football club?

In rehab
Getting rid off Coppell doesn't even come into it.He walked away from us.

Think we let Ian Wright go didn't we?

Not really.

We gave him a trial
He scored a hat-trick
Cattlin had to choose between signing Steve Penney or ian Wright.
Within two years, Penney was an international and playing at the World Cup, and Wright was a Palace player.

This thread is a bit premature because we could end up winning the JPT and midtable, or end up relegated and potless.

I think there are two decisions here:

1. The decision to sack Wilkins - questionable, and
2. The decision to appoint Adams - poor.

I don't think the Adams tenure could have gone much worse than it has, and listening to the post-Leeds interview I'm hearing a man with almost nothing left to offer.

What we need is a Howard Kendall-type "Oxford" moment in the Luton match to turn the tide, maybe a dodgy back-pass that we pounce on and score in the same way Adrian Heath did to keep Kendall from the sack and lead us to future glory?

Coventry City did a similar cock up when they got rid of Eric Black for Peter Reid. Thinking that Reid would take them to the Premiership

We've had several "potential" turning points though. Games that made you think at last we might start performing.

Manchester City
Leicester/Millwall
Swindon away
Even Shrewbury in the JPT

It just isn't going to happen, things aren't suddenly going to click. Just doesn't work like that 99% of the time.

The Wilkins saga is the biggest f*** up since King Harold decided not to wear safety goggles.

FACT (not fiction).

No, sacking Wilkins was the right thing to do.

Based on what exactly?

Guilty of very slowly but surely blending and maturing an average bunch of young home grown footballers in to a team and professional outfit capable of finishing 7th in League 1.

I said it from day one sacking Wilkins was so short sighted and unnecessary and only a man who has lost reality would have done it unless of course funny handshakes with Mickey were involved!

Bring Wilkins back NOW Knight and swallow humble pie.
