Is the Wilkins saga the biggest cock up made by a football club?

No. There was obviously a reason his position came unattainable over the course of last season, Knight wouldn't have got the backing of the board to go ahead and sack him otherwise.

Mr.Knight definitely said at the time that he had "recommended to the board, that Wilkins should be dismissed".

No ifs or buts about it....it was Dick Knights recommendation.......and decision.

Mr.Knight is rapidly becoming the most stubborn chairman in the Football League.

Wonder how long it will be, before he has to go cap in hand to Ray Bloom asking for a financial bail-out, so he can fire Adams to get the critism steered away from himself...?

The worrying thing is if the Blooms say they won't pay off Adams and if Adams won't resign then we are stuck with him and the shite I saw today would struggle to get out of the Blue Sq let alone the League 2.

Managers should be based on their management ability. Results should follow that. Our most successful manager ever was still sacked.

Nah.Football is a results business.

I believe Knight put the question to the board about Wilkins sacking. You reckon Knight wasn't the major player in bringing back useless Adams?

? I suggest

Have you actually seen the make-up of our Board of Directors...?

1) Dick Knight

2) Ray bloom.......who although a good financial backer of the club....has no wish to "run" the club.....i.e. "do what you thinks best Dick"

3) Chapman......who is presently more concerned with his own construction business than the Albion.

4) Martin Perry.....Dicks mate, who has virtually no financial input.

5) Rob Comer....financial Director with virtually no fnancial input.

People can say..and think what they like.........but looks like a one-man dictatorship to me.

That's a different question. I don't deny Knight is an influence. He IS a member of the board. I'm just guessing that the other members of the board might have an opinion too. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean they aren't pulling strings.

The glory of hindsight. No-one could have known it would have turned out like this. Anyone might have had their doubts but that's not the same thing.

I new this months ago(Adams being the wrong man) i'm affraid.

Gary Nelson = Tribunal

Either 50k or 75k can't remmeber.

Nelson was 10 times better then Saunders in an Albion shirt.Even Kurt Nogan was.Saunders career only took off once he left us.This is a fact.

Dick Knight, being the PR genius he is, realized you could not have two bald headed buggers walking out onto the hallowed turf at Falmer for the first game - just wouldn’t look good for the cameras. So he sacked Wilkins and the search was on for a manager with a full head of hair - enter Micky Adams. Managerial ability had nothing to do with the appointment.
