[Humour] Is the V sign making a comeback?

Driving along yesterday afternoon i spotted a Palace fan. He was wearing one of those strips when they were sponsored by Nutella or whoever it was. I called out cheerily "I hope you lose" after which, and credit where its due, he gave me a good old traditional British V sign. Have we finally ditched the, frankly, piss poor American middle finger thing? I hope so.

I have tried to explain to the Swedes many times the very important differences between the middle finger and the v sign. The middle finger feels very strong. A bit much. "No need for that" kind of thing.

A great example of when it should be used. Olivia Coleman being told by the teleprompter to wrap up her (brilliant) Oscars acceptance speech. Blow a raspberry and flick the vs. Lovely stuff.

But was it with a sneer?

A little bit of British tradition is all many of us more mature posters have left.

This, armed robbery, transits and sherbet fountains

I've just remembered that I was at an event yesterday where three people in quick succession who were arriving in their cars flicked me the Vs from a distance. No offence meant by it, it's almost a greeting - or classic middle-aged male BANTER!

If it's good enough for an elderly Tory Baroness, then it's good enough for me.

Lady Trumpington was a fabulous Tory fuddy duddy. You couldn't help but love her.
