following on from all the coverage over the weekend (stoked up further by Michael Owens comments)do you think that the premierships is not as exciting as it used to be? Not talking about who will win, as that is quite clear, but the football itself.

(and don't bother with the 'stuff the premiership - we're in the championship' malarkey as i know that already!)

Yes, yes it is boring.

You do get moments of skill and brilliance which stick out every now and again but there are far too many foregone conclusions and games with no outcome.

Too much at stake in the prem, most sides are too afraid to lose, and pack midfields to stiffle games, everyone knows who will win, the only interest comes from who might go down.

It isn't as exciting as it used to be because the amount of goals scored is decreasing and it's obvious to anyone with any sense Chelsea have it sown up already, and for however many years after that Mourinho and / or Abramovich stay there.

Counter that with any one of 7 teams can win the CCC, and any 3 of about 11 could go down.

So you`re saying it`s the F1 of football. Believe me it`s good when you`re in it. The money side has killed it off true enough. You have to admire Chelsea`s record of late though boring as it may seem.

It's SHIT.

The games yesterday all sucked ASS.
Some good games on Saturday though. Villa v Spuzz was good entertainment, so was Fulham v Wistam.

As for the Premiership, I suspect it's exciting if your team plays in it and sometimes there is some sublime skill to be seen, but the gaps at the top really do spoil it. i.e. Chelsea have it sewn up, Man Utd WILL finish in the top 4. I suppose the fact that Arsenal have sold Vieira makes them less predictable but if they don't finish in the top 4, it will only mean they finished 5th.

I think the Championship is the new league to watch, the games are far more excitng and pretty much any team can beat any other, so never really sure what's in store.

The Prem is too predictable now, although good to see the likes of Man City, Charlton, and even West Ham doing well.

Alot of the games bore me. I prefer to ignore the top three or four and watch the mini league fighting for the uefa cup. Much more exciting. Teams such as Man City. Not as exciting as the championship, mind you we are spoilt. Exciting end whether we like it or not!

The Premiership first 4 will be Chelsea, then Man Utd, then Arsenal, then Liverpool. One team will do much better than they normally do, and maybe finish 4th (Spurs?).

At least 2 of the 3 teams that came up will go back down, but we'll be brainwashed into thinking the relegation scrap is exciting.

It's any 3 from Sunderland, Wigan, West Ham, WBA and Portsmouth. Trust me.

Yes it is boring. I was watching football focus the other morning and suddenly it seemed to be the most boring piece of TV I had ever seen. Premiership football definitely seems to have lost something in the last few years. To some extent it may be a victim of it's own success. As better and better quality players arrived the game becomes more technical and slows down, becoming more like the italian game. The fact that it becomes more and more predictable each year adds to the bordom too.

I disagree - most of the teams that came to Selhurst last year were very average (although admittedly good enough to beat us). The likes of Bolton, Blackburn, Boro, Fulham, Clowntown etc were all rubbish. Many of the participants of the PL outside the top 4 aren't great sides.

Funnily enough even Arse, United and the Pool disappointed me and we got points off all of them. The two best away performances were actually from Man C and the Toon.

The CCC is where it's at.

At the foot of the downs
I have FAR to many Fantasy Footie bets with mates, not to be focused on the Prem 100%

Yeah basically! Too much money at stake and if you want my opinion the Championship is more exciting!

Stoped watching the premership last year. You get the odd game that is good and has Croydonbloke pointed out im sure if we were in there then it might be different, though to me at the moment it is not worth watching.

I agree.
The championship can pull off big results, i.e brighton vs sunderland last year at home. But i woudn't expect the big shock of say Sunderland beating chelsea, because sunderland will try and defend the match in a 541 role so they can get a point out of the match.

And also teams in the championship aim for the premiership, so you would go for a more attacking style to win points and get goals and overall be promoted, but when you get into the premiership you are there and you want to stay there, so you'll have to put out a more defencive team against your oppenents, to pick up points.
