before the end of the season? If so and they don't pick up points this w/e, we could end up playing them in a game that really means something to them. 10 point deduction would give them 47 points and some of the bottom 4 can overhaul that total easily.

It would be somewhat ironic and sad given Gannon turning us down and lending us Dicker, having already sold us McNulty.

Make for an absolutely cracking amosphere though

It is WAY past the deadline for deductions this season. They'd start next season on -10 if it happens.

No they would not the rule states that if by losing the 10 points it would put them in the drop zone this season they would lose the points this season not next

I thought it could still be implemented if it meant a club that wasn't in relegation trouble COULD get relegated this season, once the 10 points were deducted?

I have no idea if this fact or not, just from comments I've seen on here.

Did'nt we do this the other day?

I thought that if a 10 point deduction was enough to relegate them this season then it could still be applied..aren't they currently only 9 points clear??

I thing ReadingStockport could have the definitive answer on this, in both the chances of admin and the points deduction, he seems very well up on the situation at Stockport

The reasoning behind the rule is that it stops clubs doing what Leeds did at the end of their time in the Championship - ie getting relegated and then going into admin and getting -10 that meant nothing. Of course they then got another -15 before the next season, but that was to do with how they came out of admin, not them going into it in the first place.

So what would happen if a club got a 10 point deduction this season which put them in the relegation zone and then won the next game and avoided relegation, would they avoid a further points deduction next season? Or is there some draconian and possibly fair regulation that would take another 10 off them next season?

I believe they will wait to the end of the season to see if the points deduction would make a difference this season. So if at the end of the season they are 11 or more points above then the points deduction would apply next season, if 10 or less then it would apply this season.

not really Icy I've lost faith in the members of the trust and club board and after the lying and chicanery of an ex employee up there and currently I am having little to do with them.

Admin is a possibility although from what I can gather it's not a guaranteed. The next 48 hours are likely to show whether it will happen or not. Negotiations are seemingly ongoing with 'interested' parties but some of them have stated they are only interested in stepping in after the club has entered admin and not before. For example there are rumours that the paying of the police bill by sale for this Friday was in fact money that was owed to County from gate reciepts but that Sale for some reason had been holding on to.

Notification has gone out to trust members of a SGM to be held on the 7th May with the intention of possibly changing one of the founding rules that it is to retain a controlling stake in the club. Essentially the rule change is intended to allow the trust to, if necessary, negotiate the sale of a controlling stake in the company/club to a third party.

in the notification of the SGM it explicitly states that

"Members should note that in the event of Stockport County AFC Ltd being in Administration it will also be necessary to consider direction and guidance from the Administrator"

and on the rule change

"Should the membership be unwilling to consider bids that involve relinquishing control of the Club, this could lead to the Club being forced into Administration, which in turn may lead to Liquidation (due to a lack of saleable assets), i.e. the Club might go out of existance altogether"

EDIT to add.

Administration is a possibility but I have no idea whether it is a likelihood or not to be quite honest.

In fact curently I feel so angry towards certain people at County that when I come down on May 2 to get drunk with Uncle Buck, Graham Dagless and a couple of others I will not be sitting with the county fans but I will be elsewhere in the ground.

Sounds like the high hopes of a few months ago have come crashing down around the fans ears both on and off the pitch, feel for you..

I would feel absolutely shite if we stayed up because they went down. Hope that if it comes to it, both of us need a point on the last game- a nod and a wink?

I would also feel sick if a team went down because us and Stockport contrived together to get a draw.

Two threads in a week and still people don't seem to have a clue about the points deductions despite others pointing it out.

It's so simple. The basis is that you get penalised and therefore after the deadline, if you go into admin, the points are deducted in whichever season will have most detrimental effect. This season if the deduction takes you out of the play-offs/promotion or if it takes you into relegation. If neither then you've got a handicap at the start of next season.

Sits down, holds breath waiting for the next thread about when points deductions take effect. I'm sure it won't be long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
