Slade's record is starting to look like hinshelwoods all those years ago. Are we in the position we are in because of him or inspite of?

Also is he the man to bring brighton back up from div 2 next season?

Just questions not an opinion.

Let's give him a chance to keep us in the division then have the discussion.

Micky is more like Hinshelwood than Slade is. He took a good, winning team from Wilkins (as Hinsh did from Taylor) and turned them into habitual losers.

Slade has inherited a squad low in confidence after Micky's mess so it will take longer for him to sort out. Remember, Micky should have been sacked in October, but leaving it this late gives Slade little time to save our season.

The problem is the staff he's having to work with, I think most managers would be hindered by the dynamic duo instructing them when they first arrived.

I can imagine it now...

White: "Virgo is a great centre mid, McCleod is the fittest at the club, El-Abd & Elphick have such vision playing the ball out from the back, Robinson is the toughest tackler at the club" etc...

It's Slade's fault that we've been sleepwalking towards oblivion for the last few years. I blame him for the fact that the only 3 quality players that we've got (Forster, Murray & McNulty) are all out injured. The sun isn't shining at the moment. That's his fault as well.

Hmm, I think with Hinshelwood a lot of the problem was that he was given f*** all to strengthen the squad. Let us not forget that's why Taylor had left in the summer.

14 out injured,i think Ferguson or Wenger would struggle to manage us at the moment.

Sadly, you are displaying your ignorance, because you obviously fail to listen to Mr Slade, or to have noticed the improvement in tactics, attitude, and intent.

Success for this team has to be rebuilt from the shambles he was handed, and practically in no-time-flat. This silly thread does not offer anything in support whatsoever, and the question asked here Rodfox, is idiotic.

So, new questions;- are you an idiot, and why?

Yup, I'm with NMH here. I assume you haven't seen us play lately? Or listened? Or read and match reports?

There has definitely been an improvement in our performances since Slade arrived and unlike Adams at least he talks a good talk. I've no doubt that Slade will serve us well next year if he decides to stay when we go down. Adams? I never want to see or hear from him again. He couldn't manage the proverbial piss up in a brewery.

Agreed. I think it's a little like Capello taking over England. We'd fallen SO far under McClaren after the relative success of Wilkins, sorry, Sven, that it took him a while to turn it round. The early Cappello matches were not good, and a bit like Trigger says he had to deal with all the people telling him stuff like "The best two strikers are Rooney and Owen". I can see signs of a similar revival under Slade even if results haven't been that good.

Slade's only been here five minutes. He's already an improvement on Micky IMHO, due to the emotional involvement he shows on the touchline. Probably won't be enough to save us at this late stage, but he's inherited a shambling wreck of a squad. Hardly his fault, and doubt there's many managers out there who could have turned things around.

Just because someone jumps up and down doesn't make them a good manager does it. We're going down because the board waited too long to get rid of the hapless Adams. You're right when you say he's had no time to turn things round. I think we should stick with him now and give him the time to clear out and re-build the squad in the summer with a view of getting us promotion next season.

What part of 'just questions, not an opinion' did you fail to understand?

Slade is a good, thoughtful manager. He got Yeovil playing a decent brand of football and they scored goals. I think if he's allowed to mould the squad how he wants it and to manage us his way, I think we'll be a good team again. He's a long term manager for me, it's not going how we'd like it to right now but it takes time to mould a team.

And besides, look at our injury list since he's been here! Only now can he play Michel in goal, Elphick was injured and is now suspended, Murray and Forster are both out now aswell. It's been impossible for him to name a settled side, and that's why his record isn't great. It's bad luck, not bad management.
