Oh f*** off! :annoyed:

This isn't Slade's fault, the damage was long since done!

Err, where did I blame Slade? I just asked if he'd done enough to be here next season so pull your neck in you twat

I would have hoped he could have shored up our defence a bit better than he seems to have done, but I guess he has the very valid excuse that our best strike force is knackered and the number of injuries is unprecedented in my time following the Albion, and the malaise running through the club cannot be fixed overnight. My gut feeling is that he's not good enough but who's to say we'll find better given our ground and the fact that we'll be at the bottom of the tree next season.

I think it depends.

As I understand it, and this could just have been rumour and hearsay built around the uncertainty during the selection process for the new manager, there was a split in the board with some (Blooms) wanting to give the job to Pardew, and some (Knight) wanting to give it to Slade. Obviously Slade got the job, but only til the end of the season, so is it unreasonable to put forward the idea that Slade was a compromise, and that if he keeps/kept us up he will have proven himself to the Blooms, if not, they are proven correct and maybe we'll get Pardew, maybe Knight will be moved on/up to President.

I don't think anyone will blame Slade for not keeping us up. He may receive criticism for not getting more wins, but going down is not on his shoulders.

However, his inability to get wins must be taken into account.

Will he be here next season? I don't know. I thought when he was announced it was said if he keeps us up he stays on, but recently there was talk that Dick Knight had assured him a contract next year is not reliant on staying up.

Will he want to? Will he have had expectations of his time here that have been shattered? e.g. did he think he'd be able to work with White and Booker, found he can't and will only stay if he can bring in his own men, and if that happens will Knight allow it?

In answer to the question, no. Maybe he is the man for the job, but he has to try and prove it. We have at least got to put up a fight and so far we've singularly failed to do anything.

I could have told you from the day he was appointed he was not good enough.
I said exactly the same thing and was crucified on here for being anti Slade.

I was relatively happy with his appointment but long term, I wouldn't want him here even if he did keep us up.

He seems the sort of bloke who is decent at coming in and motivating players etc but I would rather someone else come in to take us forward with a complete overhaul of the club.

Managers are judged by results:

Micky Adams 32 pts from 32 games = average 1.00

Russell Slade 4pts from 7 games = average 0.57

It's a no brainer to me.

Can't stop chopping and changing managers every 5 minutes.

So IN for me.
