What a goal he has just scored.

I didn't think he did anything particularly special. It was a counter attack, he made one pass, then hit a return pass in the goal in a textbook manner.

he picks up the ball in his area...plays a pin point ball...runs 3/4 of the pitch and slots it home perfectly
But yes you are right...very ordinary really
I am far from a Man U lover, but you have to accept that what he did was a bit special, thats having a "Proper" football brain.....In my opinion.
As I didn't say he was ordinary. And I'm not going to argue he isn't great.
But that goal is a textbook counter attack. Most counter attacks start with the ball being picked up in their own area, a quick ball to a them mate, running up the other end and slotting it home.
There was nothing special about that goal, nothing about that goal to show why Rooney is so great. The 'pin point' ball wasn't long range, through the eye of the needle stuff. Nani had a bit of space. It was a good ball, but nothing special. The running 3/4 of the pitch occurs with almost all counter attack goals. The "slotting home perfectly" - how was it perfect? It went in. Like all counter attack goals. It went in. He hit it across the keeper, as strikers are instructed to do. It went in. There isn't much room for it to be slotted home in an imperfect fashion.
Rooney may be the best in the world, but that goal was nothing more than a well executed textbook counter attack.
He is a wanker though.

bbc sport said:"Nicolas Anelka was top scorer in the Premier League last season with 19 goals - Rooney has 20 already in 2009/10."
Exactly what i was going to say - the whole team are.
