Actually I gather he does read it.

Tooting Gull said:I think that's rubbish. If the players do come on here, all I would say to them is don't come on the once and have a hissy fit - come on a few times in a 'lurker' capacity if you must.
That way you will quickly understand who are the muppets, and therefore pay less attention to what they say. Same as the rest of us.
I've got to be completely honest - I don't think this is a good board for players. There is clearly nothing to stop them, their contributions would be welcomed - I just don't know why they would want to spend time on here if they were having a hard time at the club for whatever reason.
There has also been the embarrassing sycophancy shown towards Race by certain individuals. It's not her fault, some people just can't help themselves, but it has stifled proper discussion of Tank's form (basically quite good for now, but that might change one day).
It is not a forum that needs getting bogged down in what upsets the occasional thin-skinned prima donna. It's for the fans.

Every club has a messageboard, stop thinking that this messageboard is unique and different to every club in the world - it's part and parcel of being a pro footballer these days - expect some flak off the internet.

I'm not saying it's ok to abusively slag the players off ( and I haven't done this) but I defend the right of anyone on this board to criticise a poor performance just as people will praise good ones. People must be allowed to call it how they see it.Albion Dan said:There has been a big difference on occasions about comments on a performance and outright abusive slagging of individuals.
Guy Butters didnt hardly got to play in his first season and was slagged off constantly.
Absolutely. I would guess that players are happy to accept the praise and the hero worship (although perhaps it does get a bit much for people like Beckham) so they have to understand that the other side of the coin is criticism and abuse. The trouble is is that both are done to extremes - but that's football. If it didn't raise such passions we wouldn't care and we wouldn't pay nearly £30 to sit in the open in the feeezing cold watching a turgid 0-0 draw - knowing that we'll do it all again next week come rain or shine, win or lose.Sneaky George said:I'm not saying it's ok to abusively slag the players off ( and I haven't done this) but I defend the right of anyone on this board to criticise a poor performance just as people will praise good ones. Kent Seagull said:Mark McGhee said in his programme notes last night that he reads the clubs internet message boards for suggestions/ideas for new players.
Barnet Seagull said:Fair enough, you can always trust forums to provoke thought.
ChapmansThe Saviour said:There is a simple solution to them being upset. DON'T read the board.
I'd be surprised if Oatway reads the board....
Again, perhaps you could also mention that to Magoo.Turkey said:Everyone is enititled to their opinion and criticism is fine. However, surely you can look at this in two ways. Do we want morale to be good? Of course we do. So why don't we try not slag the players off?
