Is NSC now bad for the teams morale?

I think a few years ago when NSC was less popular that things were aired, argued and discussed largely unoticed by most of the players. This was probably healthy as it allows us to get crap off our chests without effecting the morale of individuals.

Now though with the mass popularity of the internet etc, it seems that almost all the players are on here reading what many of us anonomously spout out against them and the club, sometimes in extremely hurtful and vindictive detail. We know Guy is on here, CKR, I read that Mayo has a look, and sure most of the lads do.

I agree to an extent that players should be able to ignore critisism but it must be hard reading some of the awful stuff written here and not feel upset.

People were slagging a 19 year old CKR after 3 games! How must he have felt? All the shit about Guy when he was in his first season with us? Kitson? Mark McCammon? Harding? etc etc

Is NSC responsible for having an adverse effect on the morale of team? After all Id imagine reading stuff on here is worse that hearing some idiot shout out some random abuse in a crowd.

My sources relaibly tell me that Mr Butters is now banned from this board. Joking apart many of the players do read NSC and are upset with the comments. I would imagine that Mr McCammon wouldn't mind meeting a few people from here down a dark alley for a start. Can't help thinking that Charlie woudn't mind testing his cast out too.

True, its is all over the top half drunk crap, I hope they dont take it all seriously, I think mcgammon had a good point last night, he has been injured for ages and has had a few games since what are people expecting? I think with the right encouragement and there own hard work I think he could do it. Lets get the make noise idea going again.!

'SEAGULLS, SEAGULLS, SEAGULLS.' No wonder they get annoyed and leave! lol

Rant over.

P.S Martin Perry reads nsc too. If you are please reply to my letter!

There is a simple solution to them being upset. DON'T read the board.

I'd be surprised if Oatway reads the board....

The same could be said for Magoo's press interviews, there have been numerous times he has gone public and criticised a player, i don't really see the difference between that and the fans doing it, infact a lot of the fans pay good money to watch dross (some of the time) surely they are entitled to an opinion? Magoo is paid good money to serve up the dross...

The thing about NSC is that if you read it every day you'll get a balanced view of what a good cross-section of Albion supporters think about the club.

If the players that come on here read it daily they shouldn't have much to complain about because the majority of posters are positive.

However, if they come on after a match and see the knee-jerk reaction they won't get a fair reflection of the fans' views.

McCammon is plainly out of touch with the fans. Using the phrase "they always criticise, criticise, criticise" after we'd just sat through a turgid game in freezing conditions and paid £20 for the privilege shows a degree of insensitivity, never mind the fact that 2/3rds of callers were positive or trying to draw positives out of an otherwise bleak night.

The internet (and as Harty found out last night, the media in general) does seems to encourage people to voice much more extreme opinions than they would venture face to face.

It also seems to allow every one to be an expert.

While it's hard to ignore criticism (or praise), I hope the players are professional enough to treat most of the opinions on here with the contempt they deserve.

Hang on these guys are in the privildeged postion of being paid a relatively large amount of money, certainly by 95% of the people on heres standards and should take criticisms on the chin.

Quite. If any player comes on here expecting everyone to be full of praise for him 24/7 then they're either naive or deluded.

How do you know that "many" of the players read this board and "many" are upset?

Every club has a messageboard, stop thinking that this messageboard is unique and different to every club in the world - it's part and parcel of being a pro footballer these days - expect some flak off the internet.

I think that's rubbish. If the players do come on here, all I would say to them is don't come on the once and have a hissy fit - come on a few times in a 'lurker' capacity if you must.

That way you will quickly understand who are the muppets, and therefore pay less attention to what they say. Same as the rest of us.

I've got to be completely honest - I don't think this is a good board for players. There is clearly nothing to stop them, their contributions would be welcomed - I just don't know why they would want to spend time on here if they were having a hard time at the club for whatever reason.

There has also been the embarrassing sycophancy shown towards Race by certain individuals. It's not her fault, some people just can't help themselves, but it has stifled proper discussion of Tank's form (basically quite good for now, but that might change one day).

It is not a forum that needs getting bogged down in what upsets the occasional thin-skinned prima donna. It's for the fans.

Like on the Terraces, its always the loudest voices with the most extreme views that get heard and remembered.

I'd let my boss call me a twat ALL DAY if I was picking up a few grand every Friday for a Part-time job.
