He would not have gone for free. He was Under 24 so any deal would have gone via a tribunal.

Ok but would we have got as much for him?

Probably not, but a Leon Knight scoring goals would have been worth more to us than £125k. Afterall, what does £125k get us?

Would Leon have scored goals is the 6 millon dollar question.

They would have looked at his record and although goals have been hard to get in the last 18 months, the 27 or so in the first season would have been taken into account. The danger was him sitting in the reserves, being disruptive, potentially slagging the club off meant that nobody may have touched him in the summer.

The whole Leon Knight saga is annoying, from his point of view and the coaching staff's inability to get the best out of him, but it is in the past and there are new disasters happening.

Paul Reid ?

I was thinking more generally along the line of the results. Some of the comments that have come from players have been worried. Knight and McCammon seem to be those sort of players that can get upset easily, however for Reid however positive his interview was, to make a comment like that is a worry.

I do hope that Knight has put the offer of new contracts on hold until our status is sorted out for next season.

£125K was excellent business considering he could have walked for free in June. Any money coming in is keeping the wolf from the door.

Odd concept that, 125k being "excellent business" for the player with the most goals and most assists in your squad. Especially when the manager then spends the rest of the season bleating endlessly about not having anyone to score goals.

agree and that is part of the point I was trying to make .... McGhee's wheeling and dealing and letting players go has been quite worrying ... partic when compared to the records of recent Albion managers - Stevie Coppell, Peter Taylor and Micky Adams a;ll spring to mind and they were on a similar or even tighter budget than McGhee
