They seemed to be saying it was his last match commentery last night... If he is it would be a real shame as I will miss his amazing knowledge of facts and figures and all round good commentory. Maybe Sky have nicked him like everything else :angry::angry:

If he has hung up his microphone, I for one won't be to dissapointed, his knowledge of statistics is incredible, but it got to much when everytime a player touched the ball..........................you found out what his Mum & Dad had for lunch back in 1966!!

Should have gone years ago. He misses everything, only sees a deflection or finger tip save after the 19th replay and his one liners are appalling.

Now all they need to do is sack the female commentator from MOTD and the world will be a better place.

Another classic last night. Motson came out with something like: 'And has he been shown the yellow card?' just after the referee had clearly waved a yellow card in the player's face, and the TV had already flashed up confirmation of this fact on the screen. Signing off in style.

What happened to Greame Le Saux, he was being hailed as the new kid on the commentating block a couple of seasons ago...was pretty good too, but seems to have disappeared completely.

Thank god he has gone - woeful commentator although commentary is stretching the point more like football player biographer, the actual game often seemed irrelevant.

An absolutely attrocious commentator. Every single game somewhere during it he cackles at his own jokes. Sometimes screams when a striker has a chance in front of the goal. Will also regularly roll out some absolute tosh about some player that is completely irrelevant.

And the "double act" with Lawrenson is the worst it can get (well apart from maybe Clive Tyldesley and David Pleat)

Good riddance and thank goodness. Barry Davies was so much a better commentator and yet the beeb always went with Motson:shootself

Sometimes screams when a striker has a chance in front of the goal.

To be honest he often screams when a centre half brings the ball over the halfway line he gets that over excited!

Trying to do something else with the footy on in the background with him commentating is just impossible. You hear him suddenly shout a players name and get all excitable, look up expecting so see a bicycle kick from the edge of the box fly into the top corner, only to find there is absolutely NOTHING happening!

I am absolutely delighted the codger's finally had to hang up the mic, bout bloody time!

For someone that's seen so much football he appears to know absolutely nothing about the game. The best he can offer is saying who has passed to who and coming up with some irrellevant fact.

He's also got a knack of putting the mockers on a game.
