Is it time for DK to move aside and let some new money in

Should DK take a new role in the club and allow a new chairman (money) in

This is not a DK bashing, I for one will be eternally grateful for what he has done for the club, but is it not time to seek a different role in the club and allow a new chairman in to inject the much needed cash this club so desperately needs

Been done a hundred times before. He is not standing in anyones way. No one wants to put money into the club, as soon as they do he will stand aside

The reality is that "investing" in a football club is an almighty waste of money. Things are so out of proportion currently (wages vs revenues) that even investing in a second-rate team (no offence) would cost even more than a few million - i.e. tens of millions - with essentially no return, particularly if Falmer is to be a reality (personally I am still doubtful it will ever happen).

So you are limiting your potential investors to people who are a) immensely rich and b) happy to throw money away. These things rarely go together. But in the last few years, there's been a few of these about - and they ideally only want to invest in premiership teams (or thereabouts). But in the current "economic climate" even some of those people have a lot less money than before (see: West Ham). So Brighton needs an existing fan with that kind of money - someone much more wealthy than Fat Boy Slim etc. I can't think of anyone like that, although there might be someone...

I'm unhappy with our results and performances this season and *of course* anyone can make better substitutions, team selection, own goals and tactics than the current manager, but I think everyone should get real a little and realise that Dick Knight - despite his failings - is actually one of the best things to ever happen to this club and before calling for his head should consider whether there is actually *anyone* that is in a position to take his place.

That said, I preferred Dean Wilkins - because he was a Brighton player, was all about building up local talent etc - but I have no idea what the reason why he was removed from his post. But it's happened now and we have to deal with it as he's not coming back. The league is a write-off, but maybe winning the JPT will mean this year wasn't a complete waste of time...

Merry Christmas!

Absolutely. Some people seem to think there are queues of millionaires outside Withdean and Dick Knight is there turning them all away. These polls are so dull.

Ah, that explains that long line of people I saw in town today: must have been the Forbes Rich List 2008, queuing up to try out Dick Knight's chair for size.

I don't understand this. Surely there's nothing to stop the mythical rich investor joining the board while DK is the chairman, just like the current members of the baord who are keeping this club at this level by "investing" large wads of their own money. And if you doubt those wads are large - look at the club's accounts.

People insist no one is interested, so why do we keep hearing rumours of business men interested in investing. I remember one a few years ago who was supposedly blocked by Knight because the business man wanted sole control, and wasn't david gold(?) also touted as a possible investor?

For the same reason I keep hearing rumors I'm an incredible chick magnet -- because I want to....

We do not keep hearing rumours. David Gold may have been interested but it was only ever a rumour and I have not heard of any others. I have no doubt if someone with money and the club's best interests at heart came along, Dick Knight would talk to them.
