Is anyone else watching on Sky?

Exciting end to end stuff, all of Ipswich's best play is coming through Darren Currie. Its a bit like seeing your ex with a new bloke.

Cracking goal by Baines to put Wigan 1-0 up. Ipwich equalised when Naylor flicked in Currie's Freekick. 20 mins to go.

Jonathon Pearce on Radio 5 is raving about Currie. He's practically drooling on the radio about his passing. Described as a steal from Brighton by the 'jock' co-commentator.

And I thought £250k was pretty good business.

Currie got man of the match too. £250k is looking like a steal. Ipswich supporting mate has just phoned me saying he looks really good. Royle was praising him afterwards too.

Well done Dazza - we don't want him to be SHIT, do we?

It looks like he'll finally get his wish to play in the Prem.

It makes Wycombe and Adams look a bit thick though doesn't it? Mark McGhee knows how to spot them. Let's hope he can spot some more for us.

At £2000 a day, yes, it was a healthy profit and will keep the club going until we can play on an even keel with gate money coming in.

I don't hold any grudges on this account. It was good for us and good for Currie.

Currie was fantastic against us for Barnet and Wycombe (I'm pretty certain it was he who supplied the pass for Andy 'Camel/Hoofed Mammal' Rammel's handball equaliser) and I was always astonished that he never got spotted before we got him! All the best Darren. Not that I saw the game. Going to miss the Aussie Test series too, and that really pisses me off. Murdoch. Bastard.

Ipswich 2-1 Wigan
Darren Bent's 89th-minute strike gave Ipswich victory over promotion rivals Wigan and top spot in the Championship.
Full-back Leighton Baines put the visitors in front just before the hour mark with a stunning 40-yard shot.

But Richard Naylor headed an equaliser on 66 minutes before Bent lobbed Wigan keeper John Filan with a minute left.

Midfielder Darren Currie, making his first start for Ipswich following his £250,000 move from Brighton, played a key role in his side's victory.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ipswich: Davis, Wilnis, De Vos, Naylor, Richards, Miller, Magilton, Westlake, Currie, Bent, Kuqi. Subs: Supple, Counago, Karbassiyoon, Bowditch, Collins.

Wigan: Filan, Eaden, Jackson, Breckin, Baines, Teale, Bullard, Mahon, McCulloch, Ellington, Roberts. Subs: Walsh, Thome, Graham, Flynn, Wright.

Referee: R Beeby (Northamptonshire).

Our favourite referee. Note the BBC error in saying it was Currie's first start.

What player was taking Currie's place at Wycombe? Gawd knows. They do have a currently injured midfielder called Matt (I think, relying on memory) Bloomfield who was an under-19 England international. There is also a Dave Bloomfield (ex-Norwich) who is a star player for King's Lynn (Division Seven or something like that).

Currie is good from set peices, but if he is harried, put under pressure, I still can't see him as a star in the long term. Too slow?

The point was made on numerous occassions last night by Tony Gale, relating to Darren Currie, that you don't need pace to beat your opponent. Currie had al the touches and moves to make sure his pass found a team mate. Deservedly man of the match, and looks quality in a side dedicated to attack.

McGhee needs to use Currie as an example of what CAN happen if you are willing to come and play fro Brighton for peanuts at least you get yourself in the shop window :)

Just trying to take something positive from losing our only creative midfielder.

Who spotted him?

Step forward the real man behind most of the Albion's in-comings over the past few seasons.

Much maligned, MARTIN HINSHELWOOD TAKE A DESERVED BOW.
