Overall, a tight game against a good side. The sami formation seemed to work fairly well today - we probably edged it up until the goal but they got the breakthrough.
Should be back to winning ways on Saturday.

I saw him make countless mistakes, luckily none resulted in goals but definitely not MOTM for me.

Stockdale 6 - made some saves (at last), but suspect their second was saveable. Until I see a video, I can't be sure, but surely from that distance and angle it was...?
Bruno 6 - reined in the showboating and had a decent game
Bennett 5 - was noticeabley less advanced than at Brentford
Greer 6 - did nothing wrong
Dunk 6 - likewise
Ince 7 - played behind Holla, in the Bridcutt role, and did just fine.
Holla 6 - mostly solid - wasted a couple of decent chances
JFC 5 - meh. Still can't beat the first man from a corner
Baldock 6 - had a decent shot well saved. Think he will score. Eventually.
CMS 5 - busy, but aside from one great lay off did little of merit
Kaz 4 - not as quick as last season, really shouldn't play through the middle, made some shocking decisions, shouldn't start, but was clattered all night by their #8

Colunga 4 - very meh
Tex - N/A, but showed his close control a couple of times. Must start.

MOM? Blimey - no-one, tbh.

We played well enough, but it all went to pot about 25 yards out, and we still can't defend.

It obviously didn't come across on player, but our lot were loud for most of the game.

A much better performance than the same fixture last year, and much tighter than against Brentford. But, we lost 2-0, which, in the end is the most important thing.

Stockdale - 6. Dave showed that he can make a save or two, including one excellent reflex effort, but offset by being surprised by their 2nd. That flattered Ipswich.

Bennett - 5 reined in his bombing forward - however his crosses were poor when he did get forward, frustrating!
Holla - 6
Ince - 7 very encouraging to see him back and he grew into the game, maybe my MoM
Lua Lua - 6 it seems bizarre to see him trying to be a CM, he looks frustrated most of the time
JFC - 6 typical JFC game, you had to remind yourself that he was on the pitch
Baldock - 5. He looks half a yard faster than CMS but never really got the right service. His rating reflects his sloppy defensive play that led to their 1st goal.
CMS - 6. Usual huffing and puffing but no real chances, to be fair neither Baldock or CMS received the right service. It was crying out for the invention of Teixeira to give us that bit of guile going forward.

Subs:

Colunga - 5 brief but ineffective cameo
Teixeira - 6 his badly needed talents were wasted sitting on the bench. Should have been given at least 30 minutes. At half time I felt comfortable that we would raise our game a gear or two by introducing Teixeira. He didn't even come on immediately after their first goal.

A better team performance for 75 minutes and at that point felt we would get at least a comfortable draw but then a defensive cock up blew it for us. BTW Ipswich should have been down to 10 men in the first half after a player retaliated but the Ref only gave a yellow.

CMS 6 Ran his heart out and we looked better when he was on the pitch before being subbed.

Agree with these scores, but...
Stockdale - wouldn't blame him for either goal. First was bad back up defending, second was a very very good counterattack that no/few keepers would have stopped.
JFC - lucky not to get a red card for retaliation
Kaz - too many long distance shots - a super sub not a starter

Stockdale 6 - Couple of good saves, could maybe argue that he could have done better for both goals though. Distribution very good.
Bruno 5 - Left horribly exposed to deal with their wing back, Mings (who was excellent)
Dunk 7 - Good comeback after weekend shambles
Greer 6 - Not as good as Dunk
Bennett 5 - For a player that likes to go forward as much as he does, he isn't at all productive. Frustrating to watch
Holla 7 - Tidy, a real find.
Ince 7 - Much more defensively aware and worked well in midfield three
JFC 7.5 - MOTM, thought he was very good and like his work rate. Some good passes and found space well. Lacks pace when breaking forward though
Lua Lua 5 - Not his night, looks nowhere near as effective in Hyypia's system as he can't get one-on-one with a fullback so easily. Ref gave him no favours.
Baldock 6 - His mistake led to their first goal, but worked hard and showed some good bits of link up with CMS
CMS 6 Improved his first touch, but lacks the invention to create anything when ball is play to his feet

Totally agree with this, and scores.
Looking at Colunga against their tall centre backs made me really wonder, where he was going to excel.
