Ipod query (O/T)

When you buy an Ipod and put Itunes on your pc, can you then only download tunes from that pc?
Can you take your Itunes thing off, with all your songs, and put it on another pc?
Anyone know? Care?

You can still use Musicmatch on a Windows 9x machine, or GTKPod on any other OS...

You can dump music down from any box with a suitable sync app.

I think you can only use one iPod per computer, and the iPod is not an external hard drive so you can't transfer files. That would be against copyright legislations and therefore illegal.

The iPod is an external hard drive, you can transfer all manner of meaningless crap on it. And probably music if you put it on as just a random file, not import it as music if you see what i mean. The iPod won't be able to play it till you take it off onto another computer and them import it porperly with iTunes or whatever.

You can easily transfer tunes from other computers with iTunes or indeed any file transfer program if using it as a hard drive. The important thing is to set iTunes to manual mode as opposed to autosync or it will simply match your iPod's database with that of the computer you're connecting to. In manual mode you can look at whatever you like and transfer individual songs or albums at will.

YOu can transfer music files both onto and dfrom your ipod if you have the right software - you can get this from the ipodlounge link above - try a program called sharepod from the download section.

You can also use your ipod on as many different PCs as you want as long as they are up to spec. You can also use more than one ipod to each PC!
