So, I have got a standard 30gb Ipod with a pretty much full library on itunes.

I am thinking of buying a little ipod shuffle just for the gym.

The ipod shuffle obviously only holds about 240 songs so how do I only get a limited number of songs from my itunes to the shuffle

CONFUSED..... :dunce:

You just need to change the parameters in the settings from "auto-sync with iTunes" to "manually manage songs" then you can pick and choose what goes on your iPod.

Easy

The shuffle picks 240 songs at random from your Itunes selection. You can do this over and over again, so you keep getting different selections each time you reload songs

Cool. So, I can change it depending on whether I am updating the 30gb or the shuffle ?

Well once you've set iTunes to no longer update manually you can always switch back, just make sure you always change it when you're using the big iPod.

Although both will work fine on manual, it just means you have to choose your songs yourself rather than have iTunes pile everythign in

Ok after having a video Ipod for well over 18 months i have finally tried to put some movies on it. I downloaded some software yesterday to convert DVDs into the correct format for the Ipod. I had a few problems actually getting it on to the Ipod though. Just been to watch it for the first time and the sound plays but there is no movie playing?? Any ideas on what i need to do??

Maybe try a different converter. I tried several before I came up with one that would do the job properly. I use Super by ERight Soft (free) which you can get at www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html . In addition I use Floolah (also free) which you can get at http://www.floola.com/modules/wiwimod/ to transfer, rather than Itunes, mainly because it allows me to copy from more than one PC without trying to re-sync each time and you can move videos and songs about and rename them etc OK. Going back to Super, it looks a bit daunting when you first go into it but I haven't really done anything with the options and the output looks great on my Ipod. I can't remember whether I changed the default encoding types but mine are set for mp4 output container, H.264/avc output video codec, and aac output audio. I haven't seen anywhere where you can set the output area so mine always puts it straight under the C: drive. Have fun.

ipods are the biggest pile of wank you can buy.

step 1) blend
step 2) buy different mp3 player
