If you want to know what NSC really thinks, I'll give you the stats from our Analytics. Over the last month...

NSC visits from iPads: 61,603
NSC visits from Nexus 7: 2,899

The Tapatalk stats (in the sticky at the top of the page) also back up that iPad (and iOS generally) is the official choice of NSCers. We're a shrewd bunch.

Is that iPad mini only? It should be if you wish to present an unbiased case. You seemed to be doing so well in the previous post, I knew it couldn't last!

Cheeky! 'iPads' cover a much larger spectrum that just the 'Nexus 7'.
A much fairier test would be iPad Mini & Nexus 7. However, I imagine you probably did this search first and decided to use the one you posted instead.

Don't let the border put you off. In some ways, for some applications, it can be an advantage as your fingers can overlap the front of the tablet without accidentally doing something with the touch sensitive part of the screen.

Whereas iOS is designed to 'reject' accidental touches such as these. So you get both a thinner border/larger screen and are able to put your thumb off the border without launching random apps by mistake.

What are both like for bunging files on to. I have MP3, MP4, Avi and a whole host of other files. In the past I have found bunging these on to a Samsung produxt a piece of piss but far more fiddly on Apple. So, what is the deal with the Nexus?

Google Analytics doesn't break out iPads by device. You'll have to ask Google why that is. Regardless, NSC usage is dominated by iOS in both phone and tablet worlds.

Side-loading stuff onto an iPad used to be a pain if you wanted to bypass iTunes, but Dropbox cured that problem ages ago. Avi files play fine with various Avi players - I was worried I'd have to convert all video to mp4 but that's not the case.

Sugarsync is even better than Dropbox for easy access across your devices and seamless syncing.

Never had a problem putting any files onto any android device and as the nexus is a vanilla android product, theoretically, there is less likelihood of such problems.

Thanks. I'll have to look that up. Does Sugarsync let you share images in a public folder without sticking a webpage around it? Dropbox used to, but new accounts have this restriction.

This is because the NSC owner is Apple's no.1 cheerleader!

The iPad's hardware pisses all over the Nexus 7.

Nexus 7 has better Ram, CPU and Display hardware. Or is that incorrect?

I thought this thread would make my decision easier! :wrong:

So what's the figure for android tablets as a whole (it should include the various incarnations of the kindle fire)? Android tablets are only now starting to have any real impact. I wouldn't be surprised if there was an exponential rise in the next year much as there was with android phones.

It's interesting how Apple seems to be able to squeeze more juice out with supposedly worse specs. Such as images looking more vibrant or web pages not being laggy. I've recorded video on an Android tablet at work (although not a Nexus 7, granted) and it looks really washed out in comparison.

God knows. You can do the math. Number of visits by OS/Screen resolution

iOS 768*1024 - 59,734

iOS 320*568 - 15,849
Android 720*1280 - 10,139
Android 1280*720 - 3,232
Android 480*800 - 3,226
Android 1280*800 - 2,418
Android 800*1205 - 2,036
Android 800*1003 - 1,395
Android 800*1125 - 1,376

Thanks Bozza.

Total Apple: 134,441

Total Android: 27095

Wow, that's an amazing disparity. Interesting that the higher end android devices figure higher comparatively with other android devices.

Of course these figures may simply show that users of NSC with Apple products visit more frequently or obsessively.

I have owned both an iPad Mini and Nexus 7. Both were review copies which have since been returned, although I now have a Nexus 7. I prefer the Nexus 7 100%, everything about Android seems much better to me.

I think it's universal, and doesn't just relate to NSC. Those with iOS devices tend to view more far, far more web pages and buy far more apps than Android users, spending much more money with these purchases.
