Great interview. Hope Jake gets his big break this season. He certainly deserves it.

He seems determined to be in first team this year which is very positive, obviously. Nice to hear his ambitions for himself and Brighton!

I worry that we will lose JFC, as the team is progressing so quickly that its very difficult for a young player to catch up, and earn their chance.

5 subs isn't gong to help, either.

Agreed, I think JFC is at a funny age now, he obviously thinks he is good enough ability wise to make the 16 at least, but with the lack of experience we're going to need to decide what his place is and really man manage him well, else he'll be off, or at least manage his expectations. Gus is probably the best man for the job, certainly of anyone we have had as manager in the last 10 years!

The Championship is a tough league, very physical, so will be interesting to see how he gets on.

I concur. The 5 subs rule is going to mess up what hopes a few of our youth lot have got of breaking into the first team squad. Bar injuries can't see a way in for him. Good to see the players are not happy about the change to the sub rule as well (Sparrow interview in the Argus)

brilliant 'Twog' really enjoyed it, I think if he gets his chance he will take it. He comes across as level headed, intelligent, respectful and ambitious.

JFC: I am Jake Forster-Caskey and I want to be myself. I hope to have the success like Barry but I don't like to live under someone else's name - top answer!

re getting in the first team 5 subs does make it a lot harder for him, but this is his first season as a pro and if he can be as involved as Dunk was last season, for example, that would still represent progress.

At the moment he's got a few ahead of him - Bridcutt Dicker Sparrow Navarro (probably) Vincelot (possibly), but thinking back to the Stoke game when he played so well, he played in a more advanced position than most of those will do so he could be closer to the team in that respect.

Good little interview anyway. :bigwave:

Talismanic?

Think you need to look in the dictionary. It's a nice word but not an appropriate one surely?

Other than that not bad at all. Certainly better than most of Mr Naylor's recent efforts (damning with faint praise perhaps? Sorry for that!)

Good read thanks. I seriously think Dunk and JFC could make the step up to rotate in for 10+ appearances each when a starter is injured or suspended. Whether you'd start them though is another matter purely due to experience. Only one way to get it though!
