about as unexpected as seeing a brighton reject keeper start for sweden in their WC opener:

Republic of Ireland boss Steve Staunton has injury doubts over four players ahead of Wednesday night's Euro 2008 qualifier against the Czech Republic.
Paddy Kenny and Stephen Ireland have both had scans on hamstring injuries while Andy O'Brien is also extremely doubtful with an ankle problem.
If Sheffield United goalkeeper Fatty 5 goal Kenny is out, Brighton's Wayne Henderson - who has two substitute caps to his name - will be thrown in at the deep end against the Czechs.

The Czech Republic are 11/10 to beat Ireland which looks a very tasty price. If Henderson is between the sticks, the price becomes even more attractive...

No lose situation for you then. Hendo underperforms you get richer, he has a blinder you can console yourself that he will go into saturday on a high. or maybe even both with a narrow defeat and Hendo MOM.

To be fair I would have thought even without a potential injury he should be in with a shout if anyway if Kenny let in FIVE against CYPRUS!
Seeing as he was so shambolic against Holland I don't know why Hendo didn't start against Cyprus anyway, and since he again proved himself to be garbage agaisnt Cyprus he surely should be dropped regardless of fitness. McShane should start as well, Andy O'Brien is a JOKE.

Still Somewhere in Sussex!
Just don't push the ball out to the Czech forwards, or it will be another 5 goal nightmare for the Republic

He's got to reach the ball before he can push it out to a forward...

Henderson should've played on Saturday, Kenny is a stumpy little has been.

Come on Wayne. For once you'll be able to play in front of a crowd that appreciate a good keeper.

West Brom's Paul McShane will make his Republic debut while Brighton's Wayne Henderson is likely to start in goal.
Brighton's Wayne Henderson looks set to get the nod for the number one shirt ahead of Barnsley's Nicky Colgan as Staunton turns to his third-choice goalkeeper.

Henderson has made just two appearances for Ireland, both as substitute, while most recently he has played against the likes of Crewe, Yeovil and Chesterfield for a Brighton side 20th in League One.
