If the EPL had done their due dilligence properly and the "fit and proper persons" test had been taken seriously, they could have found this out themselves and blocked the takeover by such a homophobic, misogynstic, corrupt and brutal regime.

The news is, they were refused permission until they signed a legally binding commitment that the club was not being bought by a nation state. The Chairman of the takeover has now admitted under oath that he is a government official.

The Premier League is duty bound to act or look totally inept, just at a time when they are being threatened by the prospect of an imposed regulator.

The only thing in Newcastle and the Premier League's favour is the British government is allegedly totally beholden to the Saudi Regimes wealth and unlikely to want to rock the boat.

They are now in court arguing the opposite in the States in a court document that says the Newcastle chairman and Liv golf executive IS a Minister in Saudi Arabia. The Premier League apparently has the power to kick them out of Newcastle although maybe not the will. But in answer to your assertion, there is something in law that can be done, and what's done can apparently be undone.

I don’t believe that’s quite accurate, but if it is in a legal contract then there will be provision for breach of that surely, so nice and easy

Spot on, no way are FA going to do anything about it. Looking at the court argument which seems to say that PIF is an instrument of state but still the FA will back off.

The clubs don’t get involved with takeovers. Richard Masters at the time signed it off.

No, not directly. But the PL effectively acts on behalf of the clubs.

Masters signed it off after legal action.
