Ponting wins the toss and will bat first. Good toss to win as the pitch is expected to take turn later on.

Come on India, would love to see an India v Pakistan semi final.

An india pakistan semifinal now that would be a nightmare for the indian police and their wooden batons

BIG wicket for India... Clarke slogs Yuvraj and is caught at cow corner.

140-3 (in the 31st over)

and again Zaheer pegs them back just when they look like they might cut loose... White c&b for 12

Aus 190-5 (in the 42nd)

Punter 84* (and a real gritty captain's knock it is too)

What a legend Ponting is. Love to hate him but you have to applaud the man, what an innings. 260+ is a competitive total, depends if Sehwag gets a flyer I guess.

There is talk of Ponting retiring and ending his days on the county circuit in England. Back to Somerset or will Hampshire have the readies available?

He said that it doesn't fit with his schedule this season but if he retires from international cricket (or has that decision taken for him) then he could well come over.

Australia's innings closes on 260-6 from their 50 overs.

Both teams are in this. Should be an exciting chase.

Thank God that whiny little pin eyed bitch is out. :jester:

I think that is a reachable target if Tendulkar, Sehwag & Gambhir fire at the top today, the middle order looks like it should see India home hopefully...

Sachin Tendulkar 'The Little Master' reaches 45, and with that he passes an incredible milestone of 18000 runs in ODI matches,

with an average of 45.2, 48 hundreds and 93 fifties, in 440 innings and 451 matches.

Oh... and India are 70-1 (14 overs)

India seem a little becalmed at the moment, they need to push on rather quickly from here..

On a different note, the format of this World Cup certainly needs tinkering with. After such an interminable long drag of quite often meaningless matches, we face one of the favourites for the competition out at the quarter final stage with indignamt haste.
