£4 million

Are they really that stupid in the Premier League?

Gus Poyet wants winger from his former employers and relegation-fight rival Tony Pulis is also in for the player but valuation is holding things up

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet will have to pay £4million to sign Will Buckley from former club Brighton.

And Poyet faces a chequebook war with relegation-battle rivals Crystal Palace - Brighton's arch-rivals - over the winger, who could make a move to the Premier League within 48 hours.

Buckley is keen on a move to the top flight, and although the Seagulls' valuation is slowing progress both teams are closing in on an agreement.

Poyet has been told he can buy after giving the Black Cats hope of avoiding the drop, which seemed a certainty under predecessor Paolo di Canio, and taking them to the Capital One Cup Final.

Buckley is anxiously waiting on the chance to move, with Brighton lining up Middlesbrough's Mustapha Carayol as a replacement.

Am I the only person that wants Buckley to stay.

His impact on our big day in august 2011 will never be forgotten & many late winners during that season.

Fair to say that he has struggled with injury this season but surely he is young enough & loved enough to become a real legend over the next few years.

Doncaster was epic and Will will never be forgotten for that.

But pre signing for us Watford fans said keep him fit and he's a great player. We bought a sick note, who has had some decent matches for us. But his injury problems I fear will always haunt him and stop him ever becoming a great player.
